The litter size in chromosomally polymorphic blue foxes [PDF]

open access: yesHereditas, 2008
Makinen, A. and Lohi, O. 1987. The litter size in chromosomally polymorphic blue foxes. —Hereditas 107:115–119. Lund, Sweden. ISSN 0018–0661. Received December 10, 1986 About 50 % of the Finnish farm bred blue foxes have a Robertsonian translocation in a heterozygous form, whereas the distributions of the homozygous form 2n = 48 and the 2 n = 50

Spatial Transcriptomics of TMJ Reveals a Remodeling Fibroblast‐Immune Microenvironment Driving Arthritis Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics reveals a remodeled fibroblast‐immune microenvironment in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) during arthritis. By combining seqFISH with genetic mouse models, this study uncovers TMJ spatial cell atalas, macrophage‐fibroblast crosstalk, and cytokine signaling pathways driving TMJ inflammation and pain.

Compensatory Interplay Between Clarin‐1 and Clarin‐2 Deafness‐Associated Proteins Governs Phenotypic Variability in Hearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Functional compensation between clarin‐1 and clarin‐2 in cochlear hair cells. Hearing loss associated with CLRN1 mutations shows striking phenotypic variability; however, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study reveals that clarin‐1 and clarin‐2 function cooperatively in cochlear hair cells to sustain mechanoelectrical ...

Genetic parameters for Finnish blue fox population: litter size, age at first insemination and pelt size

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 2008
Pelt size has increased rapidly in the Finnish blue fox population during the last decade. However, average number of pups per mated female has slightly decreased after the mid-1990’s.

FSHR (exon 10) gene polymorphisms and its association with fertility trait in Egyptian Ossimi sheep [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology in Animal Husbandry, 2019
For the association between of Follicle stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) gene (partial part of exon 10) polymorphisms and litter size trait in Egyptian Ossimi sheep, polymerase chain reaction-single stranded conformational polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) and ...

Loss of maternal annexin A5 increases the likelihood of placental platelet thrombosis and foetal loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Antiphospholipid syndrome is associated with an increased risk of thrombosis and pregnancy loss. Annexin A5 (Anxa5) is a candidate autoantigen. It is not known, however, whether endogenous Anxa5 prevents foetal loss during normal pregnancy.

Bio‐Inspired Cascade Photocatalysis on Fe Single‐Atom Carbon Nitride Upcycles Plastic Wastes for Effective Acetic Acid Production

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a novel cascade photocatalysis concept using Fe single‐atom catalysts (Fe@C3N4 SAC) to directly upcycle plastics (PET, PP, PE, PVC) into valuable acetic acid at ambient conditions. Inspired by microbial degradation, the bifunctional cascade photocatalyst combines Fenton‐like oxidation and CO2 photoreduction, as validated by ...

Drivers of inter-year variability of plant production and decomposers across contrasting island ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Despite the likely importance of inter-year dynamics of plant production and consumer biota for driving community- and ecosystem-level processes, very few studies have explored how and why these dynamics vary across contrasting ecosystems.

Multiobjective Environmental Cleanup with Autonomous Surface Vehicle Fleets Using Multitask Multiagent Deep Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents a multitask strategy for plastic cleanup with autonomous surface vehicles, combining exploration and cleaning phases. A two‐headed Deep Q‐Network shared by all agents is traineded via multiobjective reinforcement learning, producing a Pareto front of trade‐offs.
