Global estimation and scenario-based projections of sex ratio at birth and missing female births using a Bayesian hierarchical time series mixture model [PDF]

open access: yesAnn. Appl. Stat. 15 (3) 1499 - 1528, September 2021, 2020
The sex ratio at birth (SRB) is defined as the ratio of male to female live births. The SRB imbalance in parts of the world over the past several decades is a direct consequence of sex-selective abortion, driven by the co-existence of son preference, readily available technology of prenatal sex determination, and fertility decline.

The Optimal Number of Oocytes Retrieved From PCOS Patients Receiving IVF to Obtain Associated With Maximum Cumulative Live Birth Rate and Live Birth After Fresh Embryo Transfer

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
AimsThis study aims to determine the optimal number of oocytes retrieved so that patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) receiving in vitro fertilization (IVF) can obtain the best cumulative live birth rate (CLBR) and live birth after fresh embryo

Amazon Forest Fires Between 2001 and 2006 and Birth Weight in Porto Velho [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, July 2012, Volume 89, Issue 1, pp 1-7, 2019
Birth weight data (22,012 live-births) from a public hospital in Porto Velho (Amazon) was used in multiple statistical models to assess the effects of forest-fire smoke on human reproductive outcome. Mean birth weights for girls (3,139 g) and boys (3,393 g) were considered statistically different (p-value < 2.2e-16).

Is AMH Level, Independent of Age, a Predictor of Live Birth in IVF?

open access: yesJournal of Human Reproductive Sciences, 2017
Background: Although anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) level is known to predict ovarian reserve, there is conflicting evidence regarding the association between AMH and clinical pregnancy or live birth (LB).

Outcomes and cost analysis of single-embryo transfer versus double-embryo transfer

open access: yesWomen's Health, 2023
Background: Studies had compared single-embryo transfer to double-embryo transfer with cleavage stage embryos and found that while single-embryo transfer was less costly, it was also associated with a lower live birth rate than double-embryo transfer.

The Prediction of IVF Outcomes with Autologous Oocytes and the Optimal MII Oocyte/Embryo Number for Live Birth at Advanced Maternal Age

open access: yesMedicina, 2023
Background and Objectives: Delayed childbearing in advanced age might be associated with a low prognosis for achieving pregnancy. Therefore, it is important to establish a predictive tool that will optimize the likelihood of a live birth at advanced age.
