Probiotic efficacy, antioxidant, antimicrobial and anticancer activities of cell free supernatant derived from Weissella confusa isolated from Oreochromis niloticus – An in vitro study

open access: yesThe Microbe
The current study explores the probiotic potential and helps to assess the anti-colon cancer effects of cell-free supernatant (CFS) produced by Weissella confusa isolated from Oreochromis niloticus. By sequencing the 16S rRNA gene, the strain W. confusa,

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Feed types affect the growth, survival and cannibalism in early juvenile of striped snakehead (Channa striata Bloch.)

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2020
The efficacy of zooplankton as live feed instead of commercially used artificial feed on growth, survival, cannibalism, and mortality in early juvenile of striped snakehead (0.13 ± 0.03 g) was determined in this study.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.
