Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Decreased glutamate transporter (GLT-1) expression in frontal cortex of rats with acute liver failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
It has been suggested that reduced astrocytic uptake of neuronally released glutamate contributes to the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy in acute liver failure.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Determination of the urinary aglycone metabolites of vitamin K by HPLC with redox-mode electrochemical detection

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
We describe a method for the determination of the two major urinary metabolites of vitamin K as the methyl esters of their aglycone structures, 2-methyl-3-(3′-3′-carboxymethylpropyl)-1,4-naphthoquinone (5C-aglycone) and 2-methyl-3-(5′-carboxy-3′-methyl-2′

Renal and Hepatic Dysfunction in Malaria Patients in Minna, North Central Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Information on kidney and liver involvement in malaria in Africa is still very scanty. Kidney and liver functions were assessed in 70 malaria patients using serum levels of creatinine and urea and urinary protein levels as test indicators of kidney ...

A guide to reactive oxygen species in tumour hypoxia: measurement and therapeutic implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Hypoxia reshapes tumour redox landscapes by altering compartmental ROS production (mitochondria, NOX, ER, peroxisomes). Accurate interpretation requires oxygen‐contextualised measurement (live biosensors, chemical probes, EPR, LC–MS) and awareness of artefacts (reoxygenation, probe specificity).

Circulating microRNAs: promising candidates serving as novel biomarkers of acute hepatitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Acute liver failure as life threatening condition comprises a difficult diagnostic situation to evaluate potential outcomes and therapeutic options. Thus, prognostic indicators are urgently needed for evaluation of progression of liver injury, clinical ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...
