TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Liver neoplasms: imaging characterization

open access: yes, 2008
A wide range of both benign and malignant neoplasms may occur in the liver. Although the characterization of focal hepatic lesions may represent a diagnostic challenge for radiologists, typical imaging findings in these lesions allow a correct diagnosis.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Complications of Image-Guided Thermal Ablation of Liver and Kidney Neoplasms

open access: yes, 2014
Image-guided thermal ablation is a widely accepted tool in the treatment of a variety of solid organ neoplasms. Among the different techniques of ablation, radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation, and microwave ablation have been most commonly used and ...

Renal Cell Carcinoma Embolization for the Treatment of Budd–Chiari Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Interventional Radiology ISVIR, 2017
Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the eighth most common malignancy, accounting for 3% of all newly diagnosed neoplasms. RCC venous invasion occurs in 4 to 10% of cases. We report a case of RCC with extensive vascular invasion and new-onset liver dysfunction.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
