Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Minimum proportion of future liver remnant in safe major hepatopancreatoduodenectomy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery
Background and Aim Post‐hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) after major hepatopancreatoduodenectomy (HPD) is a challenge to overcome. However, the appropriate target proportion of the future liver remnant (pFLR) to prevent severe PHLF in major HPD remains ...

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Effects of the liver volume and donor steatosis on errors in the estimated standard liver volume

open access: yes, 2011
An accurate assessment of donor and recipient liver volumes is essential in living donor liver transplantation. Many liver donors are affected by mild to moderate steatosis, and steatotic livers are known to have larger volumes.

Optimal liver drainage rate for survival in patients with unresectable malignant hilar biliary obstruction using 3D-image volume analyzer

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology, 2023
Background: Drainage exceeding 50% of total liver volume is a beneficial prognostic factor in patients with unresectable malignant hilar biliary obstruction (UMHBO).

Mobilization of multilineage-differentiating stress-enduring cells into the peripheral blood in liver surgery.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
PurposeThis study investigated whether liver damage severity relates to the mobilization of multilineage-differentiating stress-enduring (Muse) cells, which are endogenous reparative pluripotent stem cells, into the peripheral blood (PB) and whether the ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Resected or Remnant Liver Volume and Standard Liver Volume Ratio in Patients with Major Hepatectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
To clarify the relationship between resected (RSV) or remnant hepatic volume (RMV) in major hepatectomy, and standard liver volume (SLV) and its clinical significance, the RSV/SLV, RMV/SLV and the volume of regeneration (RGV)/RMV were examined in 41 ...

Hyaluronic acid levels predict risk of hepatic encephalopathy and liver-related death in HIV/viral hepatitis coinfected patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Whereas it is well established that various soluble biomarkers can predict level of liver fibrosis, their ability to predict liver-related clinical outcomes is less clearly established, in particular among HIV/viral hepatitis co-infected ...
