Drivers of Change: Experts' Perceptions of European Agri‐Food and Livestock Farming Systems

open access: yesFUTURES &FORESIGHT SCIENCE, Volume 8, Issue 3, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Transforming agri‑food and livestock farming systems to increase their sustainability and climate resilience requires a clear understanding of what drives change and how driving forces are related. This study increases systems knowledge by identifying driving forces and actors that shape European agri‐food and livestock farming systems ...

CONFINED ANIMAL PRODUCTION AND MANURE NUTRIENTS [PDF]

open access: yes
Using data from the Census of Agriculture on animal inventory and sales, we estimate manure nutrient production on farms with confined livestock. Using reported on-farm production of crops on these same farms, we estimate the nutrient uptake for major ...

Why Some Critical Junctures Lead Nowhere: Exploring Dynamic and Static Policy Paths

open access: yesGovernance, Volume 39, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Some critical junctures fail to cause significant change in practice. Inspired by historical institutionalism, this article develops the concept of dynamic and static policy paths to explain why some critical junctures do not lead to change, while others do.

Effect of cutting management and nitrogen supply on yield and quality of Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In a series of cutting experiments, average apparent nitrogen recovery of applied fertilizer N by Napier grass was approximately 50%. Incorporation of cattle manure improved nitrogen utilization.

Introduced dung beetles suppress methane emissions from cattle dung and alter the temporal dynamics of greenhouse gas flux Los escarabajos peloteros introducidos suprimen las emisiones de metano del estiércol de ganado y alteran la dinámica temporal del flujo de gases de efecto invernadero Besouros coprófagos introduzidos suprimem as emissões de metano do esterco bovino e alteram a dinâmica temporal do fluxo de gases de efeito estufa

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 5, Page 1025-1035, October 2026.
Dung beetles suppressed cumulative methane flux from cattle dung by 85% and reduced total greenhouse gas emissions by 18%. Beetle activity accelerated initial CO2 release but did not alter total cumulative flux. N2O and NH3 fluxes were transient and not consistently driven by beetle presence.

Environmental Pesticide Exposure in the Etiology of Pediatric Brain Tumors and Leukemia: A Scoping Review of Epidemiological Studies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 6, Page 1360-1384, 15 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Pediatric cancer is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in children. The etiologies of pediatric cancer are largely unknown, but environmental pesticide exposures are likely to contribute. Chronic low‐dose exposure to pesticide mixtures through drinking water is a growing concern in agricultural communities.
