Estetrol‐based combined oral contraceptives: A systematic review of clinical outcomes

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
This systematic review summarizes clinical outcomes of estetrol‐containing combined oral contraceptives, showing reliable contraceptive efficacy, predictable bleeding patterns, improved well‐being, and a favorable hemostatic and metabolic profile, suggesting a promising and potentially safer alternative to ethinylestradiol‐based formulations.

The Mooring Pattern Study for Q-Flex Type LNG Carriers Scheduled for Berthing at Ege Gaz Aliaga LNG Terminal [PDF]

open access: yesTransNav, 2014
Ever growing energy industry requires larger quantities of LNG to be transported by bigger ships between terminals. Every day, new kind of large vessels created by new technologies, and these are used to trade around the globe. This is the dynamic change

On Tail Index Estimation based on Multivariate Data

open access: yes, 2014
This article is devoted to the study of tail index estimation based on i.i.d. multivariate observations, drawn from a standard heavy-tailed distribution, i.e. of which 1-d Pareto-like marginals share the same tail index.

Optimal Hedging Strategies in the Low‐Sulphur Bunker Fuel Landscape

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The IMO2020 regulation for the green transition in shipping turned the industry into using two compliant bunker fuels: very low‐sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) and low‐sulphur marine gas oil (LSMGO). VLSFO futures contracts introduced in late 2019 and other energy‐related futures contracts indicate that the VLSFO contracts trading on the Singapore ...

Reliquefaction Technology for LNG Carrier

open access: yesJournal of The Japan Institute of Marine Engineering, 2005
Unlike all cargo ships, liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers have continued to use steam turbine propulsion plant despite more efficient diesel engine being available. This is because the gas that naturally evaporates from the cargo (called boil-off) is used as fuel for the steam turbines, and until recently there was no other use for it.

Alternative Propulsion Plants for Modern LNG Carriers

open access: yesNew Trends in Production Engineering, 2018
This paper shows the latest evolution trends of propulsion plants of modern LNG tankers. Features of conventional and advanced steam plants were confronted with propulsion plants such as Dual Fuel – Diesel electric and plants equipped with slow speed two

New knowledge about shock events that affected the L‐chondrite parent body from two heavily shocked L6 meteorite finds

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report new results from a study of shock‐related features in the L6 ordinary chondrites Northwest Africa (NWA) 4672 and NWA 12841. Our observations confirm the occurrence of eight high‐pressure (HP) minerals in each meteorite, namely, ringwoodite, majorite, akimotoite, wadsleyite, albitic jadeite, lingunite, tuite, and xieite.

Floating storage and regasification units face specific LNG rollover challenges: Consideration of saturated vapor pressure provides insight and mitigation options

open access: yesNatural Gas Industry B, 2018
Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU) form a rapidly expanding sector of LNG business. In many cases, FSRU now provide a more cost-effective and very flexible way to deliver natural gas to end users in comparison with shore-based terminals ...

Association of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Animal Ownership With Relapse to Acute Malnutrition Among Children Aged 6–59 Months in Mali, South Sudan and Somalia: A Multi‐Site Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, EarlyView.
Relapse rates post‐SAM treatment varied: 32% in Mali, 63% in South Sudan, 21% in Somalia. Diverse WASH and animal ownership factors were linked to relapse risk, differing by context. Some WASH conditions increased risk, whereas animal ownership was protective in Mali and South Sudan. No significant associations emerged in Somalia.

Liquefied Natural Gas for Europe - Some Important Issues for Consideration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from various suppliers by sea, as an alternative to pipeline shipments and supplies, is seen as a way to secure and diversify natural gas imports in the EU. The purpose of this study is to investigate four main
