J2EE application for clustered servers : focus on balancing workloads among clustered servers : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Information Science in Computer Science at Massey University, Albany, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
J2EE has become a de facto platform for developing enterprise applications not only by its standard based methodology but also by reducing the cost and complexity of developing multi-tier enterprise applications.

Modelling Load Balancing and Carrier Aggregation in Mobile Networks

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we study the performance of multicarrier mobile networks. Specifically, we analyze the flow-level performance of two inter-carrier load balancing schemes and the gain engendered by Carrier Aggregation (CA).

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Dynamic load balancing algorithm complexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the asymptotic complexity inherent in a load balancing algorithm in a loosely-coupled network, where processor communication is achieved by message passing.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Improved Analysis of Deterministic Load-Balancing Schemes

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the problem of deterministic load balancing of tokens in the discrete model. A set of $n$ processors is connected into a $d$-regular undirected network.

Multidomain load balancing [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings 2000 International Conference on Network Protocols, 2002
This paper investigates dynamic load balancing issues in the multidomain environment where local area networks (LANs) are interconnected by the Internet. Because of the much slower Internet communication speed and limited bandwidth, existing load balancing algorithms for LANs are unsuitable for the multidomain environment.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Proposing a load balancing algorithm with an integrative approach to reduce response time and service process time in data centers

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Operations & Production Management, 2019
Goal: Load balancing policies often map workloads on virtual machines, and are being sought to achieve their goals by creating an almost equal level of workload on any virtual machine.

Interference between postural control and mental task performance in patients with vestibular disorder and healthy controls

open access: yes, 2001
OBJECTIVES - To determine whether interference between postural control and mental task performance in patients with balance system impairment and healthy subjects is due to general capacity limitations, motor control interference, competition for ...
