Load alleviation of feather-inspired compliant airfoils for instantaneous flow control

Bioinspiration & Biomimetics, 2020
Abstract Birds morph their wing shape to adjust to changing environments through muscle-activated morphing of the skeletal structure and passive morphing of the flexible skin and feathers. The role of feather morphing has not been well studied and its impact on aerodynamics is largely unknown.

Load-flow control with FACTS devices in competitive markets

DRPT2000. International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX382), 2002
On the basis of the increasing importance of the exchange of electrical energy between partners in an interconnected power system, the use of FACTS devices to control power transits is examined. The exact derivation of the necessary control values for the FACTS devices is presented with generally valid equations especially for long lines and weakly ...

A Load Control Mechanism for Data‐Flow Machines

Systems and Computers in Japan, 1988
AbstractThe data‐flow computer is based essentially on parallel computation. Consequently, it is essential in the realization of such high‐level management and control functions as resource management to control the parallelism and parallel expansion.

Realization of direct flow control with load pressure compensation on a load control valve applied in overrunning load hydraulic systems

Flow Measurement and Instrumentation, 2017
Abstract This paper presents the realization of direct proportional flow control with load pressure compensation feature on a LCV (load control valve). Proportional flow control performance means the flow through the LCV is proportional to the pilot pressure in the control stroke.

Modelling of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator in Fast Decoupled Load Flow Solution for Power Flow Control

2006 IEEE International Power and Energy Conference, 2006
Fast decoupled load flow (FDLF) solution has gained wide spread acceptance in power industry, owing to its simplicity and computational efficiency, but very little attention has been paid for implementation of thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) models in FDLF solutions. This paper addresses the TCSC model implementation in FDLF solution for

Load-Flow Modeling of the Integrated Bundle-Controlled Line Impedance Modulator

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2015
This paper presents the load-flow modeling and steady-state capabilities of the bundle-controlled line impedance modulator (LIM). This distributed flexible ac transmission system device is under development for the management of power flows. In particular, this paper presents the back-to-back interconnection of two bundle-controlled line segments.

SDN Based Inter-Technology Load Balancing Leveraged by Flow Admission Control

2013 IEEE SDN for Future Networks and Services (SDN4FNS), 2013
In this paper, we have followed the idea of exploiting inter-technology load balancing leveraged by flow admission control with software defined networking (SDN). By means of the highly flexible interfaces, SDN is simply effective in the 5G network architecture where load balancing and dynamic flow admission control are considered as essence of ...

Evolutionary-programming-based load flow algorithm for systems containing unified power flow controllers

IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 2003
The solution of the load flow problem is fundamental to the operation of every modern power utility. With the advent of modern power electronics, devices such as the unified power flow controller have been developed for the control of power systems. These devices provide unprecedented control over load flows and voltage levels at their location within ...

Improved Area Interchange Control for Newton's Method Load Flows

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1969
-The standard area interchange control method for load flow inhibits the convergence of whatever numerical technique is being used. A simple revision of the system of equations being solved allows Newton's method to calculate load flows with area control but with the same convergence rate as studies in which area control is not included.
