OmniFlow: Coupling Load Balancing with Flow Control in Datacenter Networks

2016 IEEE 36th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS), 2016
In this paper, we propose OmniFlow, a novel transport protocol which combines load balancing and flow control at the transport layer to optimize datacenter transfers. OmniFlow outweighs previous solutions in two aspects. Firstly, it can simultaneously and precisely measure the queueing latencies on multiple paths between two hosts.

Dynamical model of unified power flow controllers in load-flow analysis

2006 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2006
Based on the novel concept of interpreting the updated voltage solutions at each iteration in the Newton-Raphson (NR) load-flow analysis as dynamic variables, the paper develops a procedure for representing the unified power flow controllers (UPFCs) in the steady-state evaluation.

The Control of Hydrogen Flow in Keeping with Load Changing at the PEMFC

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
The performance of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) under the fuel control system was investigated experimentally using dry hydrogen and oxygen gas. In this study, experiments have been carried out on the unit cell with the active area of 25cm2. Both sides of outflow lines were closed by valves.

A Multiterminal HVDC Load-Flow with Flexible Control Specifications

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1986
This paper presents a sequential ac-dc load-flow method for parallel multiterminal de networks. P.u.-expressed de equations are treated separately from ac equations and an interface is used to check and adjust their mutual convergence. A dc converter acts like a load on its ac bus; when it is a rectifier P and Q power are consumed, and when it is an ...

Control adjustments in fast decoupled load flow

Electric Power Systems Research, 1994
Abstract The fast decoupled load flow (FDLF) method has gained wide acceptance in the power industry owing to its simplicity and computational efficiency. The critical role of control adjustments designed to simulate the control strategies of system operation in load flow solutions has long been recognized. The implementation of standard adjustments,

High voltage series reactors for load flow control

e & i Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, 2004
Liberalization efforts are continuing in electricity markets all over the world. The change from monopolistic to free market structures leads to a significant increase in the trading of electrical energy. Since current power plant operation is driven by price aspects, the load flows in the networks are mainly determined by the economic situation and ...

Load balancing of a data flow based programmable controller

Proceedings of IECON '93 - 19th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2002
In this paper the formal definition of a sequence control program used in a data flow based programmable controller is proposed. A control program is described with a data flow graph and from formalization of the graph, the incidence matrix is defined. Using this matrix, the reachability property of the control program is analyzed.

An Adaptive Flow-Level Load Control Scheme for Multipath Forwarding

2001
Compared with the traditional single path routing model, multipath routing increases total network utilization and end-to-end performance. When disseminating traffic into multiple paths, routers should adaptively allocate flows to each path in order to achieve load balancing among multiple paths, as most IP flows are short-lived and the flow size is ...

Load-flow control with FACTS devices in competitive markets

DRPT2000. International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX382), 2002
On the basis of the increasing importance of the exchange of electrical energy between partners in an interconnected power system, the use of FACTS devices to control power transits is examined. The exact derivation of the necessary control values for the FACTS devices is presented with generally valid equations especially for long lines and weakly ...
