Load alleviation of feather-inspired compliant airfoils for instantaneous flow control

Bioinspiration & Biomimetics, 2020
Abstract Birds morph their wing shape to adjust to changing environments through muscle-activated morphing of the skeletal structure and passive morphing of the flexible skin and feathers. The role of feather morphing has not been well studied and its impact on aerodynamics is largely unknown.

Implementation of a novel unified power flow controller into Newton-Raphson load flow

2017 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2017
This paper presents a novel structure of the unified power flow controller (UPFC) and proposes a load flow method for power systems with this kind of UPFCs. The novel UPFC structure has been applied in the Nanjing UPFC project, where the shunt converter is connected to a 35 kV bus, while two series converters are installed on two 220 kV lines.

Modelling of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator in Fast Decoupled Load Flow Solution for Power Flow Control

2006 IEEE International Power and Energy Conference, 2006
Fast decoupled load flow (FDLF) solution has gained wide spread acceptance in power industry, owing to its simplicity and computational efficiency, but very little attention has been paid for implementation of thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) models in FDLF solutions. This paper addresses the TCSC model implementation in FDLF solution for

An integrated system for controlling shop loading and work flow

International Journal of Production Research, 1995
Effective management of loading and work flow is becoming increasingly important in manufacturing. However, research has not addressed the associated dynamic internal performance issues as effectively as possible. This paper investigates an integrated approach to input and shop floor control under conditions of controlled delivery performance.

Fluidic Flow Control Devices for Gust Load Alleviation

Journal of Aircraft
A reduction in the structural weight and climate-relevant emissions of future transport aircraft can be realized through active gust load alleviation, limiting the peak aerodynamic loads experienced in flight. Two fluidic concepts, surface and Coandă jets, offer promising solutions. The surface jet induces a separated flow region on the wing’s suction
