Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

The problem of infinite plate loaded with normal force following a complex trajectory*

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2019
Introduction. A method for solving the problem of an infinite plate on an elastic foundation is proposed. The plate is affected by a periodic load in the form of a force following an arbitrary closed path.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Steady-state vibrations of a beam structure under moving horizontal force-analytical approach [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering
The following paper presents a dynamic analysis of a railway superstructure subjected to horizontal moving loads. The superstructure including the substructure was modelled with two infinitely long beams connected by an elastic layer. The structure rests

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

MONITORING DYNAMIC DEFORMATION OF SHUTTLE STEEL SHELVES BY DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY [PDF]

open access: yesCivil Engineering Journal, 2019
Shuttle steel shelves (steel shelves equipped with shuttles) are popular in modern logistics. The safety of shuttle steel shelves is an issue due to the complicated dynamic load that develops when the shuttles are in operation.

Mutant p53R273H disrupts PDPK1 homodimerization and contributes to PDPK1 activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
How mutant p53R273H drives AKT signaling is unclear. We show that p53R273H, but not wild‐type, directly binds PDPK1 via a mutation‐dependent conformational change. This interaction disrupts inhibitory PDPK1 homodimerization and enhances AKT phosphorylation.

Vibration Analysis of a Single-Cylinder Reciprocating Compressor considering the Coupling Effects of Torsional Vibration

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
A piston slap is one of the main vibration sources of the reciprocating machinery. Much work has been done in this field, most of which was based on a constant rotating speed.

Output Power Smoothing and Voltage Regulation of a Fixed Speed Wind Generator in the Partial Load Region Using STATCOM and a Pitch Angle Controller

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
The output power and terminal voltage of the fixed speed induction generator fluctuate in the partial load region where the wind speed is below the rated vale, resulting in fluctuations in the grid frequency and voltage.

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.
