Liver Resection for Hepatic Adenoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Between 1970 and 1978, eight hepatic adenomas were resected. Four of the eight patients took oral contraceptive pills before the hepatic adenoma was identified; one patient was male. Four patients had evidence of bleeding at the time of presentation. The

Graded extent of hippocampal resection is related to neuropsychological outcomes in temporal lobe epilepsy surgery

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Surgical resection for epilepsy seeks to maximize seizure freedom while minimizing new neurocognitive impairments. Tailored resections guided by anatomoelectroclinical (AEC) hypotheses offer the possibility of sparing parts of the hippocampus.

Comparison of outcomes following lobectomy, segmentectomy, and wedge resection based on pathological subtyping in patients with pN0 invasive lung adenocarcinoma ≤1 cm

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2022
Purpose We sought to analyze the prognostic significance of lung adenocarcinoma classification for patients with pathological N0 (pN0) lung invasive adenocarcinomas ≤1 cm who underwent surgical resection and investigate the optimal surgical procedure ...

Patient Feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
I accompanied my mother, Angela Domino, to Methodist Hospital last Friday for a breast surgery performed by Melissa Lazar, MD. I just wanted you to know how wonderful our experience was, and I place much of that credit on your employees’ personal efforts

Left hepatic trisegmentectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Left hepatic trisegmentectomy was successfully performed upon four patients in whom the true left lobe of the liver and all, or part, of the anterior segment of the right lobe of the liver were removed in continuity.

Estradiol and testosterone levels in patients undergoing partial hepatectomy - A possible signal for hepatic regeneration? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
In five adult male patients undergoing a 40-60% partial hepatectomy, serum sex hormone levels before and after hepatic resection were determined. Blood was drawn immediately prior to each surgical procedure and at specified time points postoperatively ...

Clinical use and radiological yield of magnetic resonance fingerprinting in epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF) is a novel paradigm for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that efficiently generates multiparametric quantitative tissue property maps with a single acquisition. Its quantitative nature offers many advantages over conventional MRI.

Primary undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (Malignant fibrous histiocytoma) of the lung: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
Primary UPS of the lung, so‐called MFH, is a rare aggressive neoplasm and known to be a high risk of recurrence and metastasis. Surgical resection without residual tumor is the main option of treatment and the best chance for long‐term survival.

Glymphatic dysfunction couples with cortical excitation–inhibition imbalance in epilepsy: Evidence from Rasmussen encephalitis

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Cong Fu et al. demonstrate that glymphatic system dysfunction is linked to enhanced inhibitory cortical activity using diffusion MRI and EEG. These findings highlight a mechanistic link between perivascular fluid dynamics and neuronal activity, suggesting a role for glymphatic function in maintaining cortical stability in epilepsy.
