Field Validation of the Southern Rock Lobster Paralytic Shellfish Toxin Monitoring Program in Tasmania, Australia

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2021
Paralytic shellfish toxins (PST) are found in the hepatopancreas of Southern Rock Lobster Jasus edwardsii from the east coast of Tasmania in association with blooms of the toxic dinoflagellate Alexandrium catenella. Tasmania’s rock lobster fishery is one

Recent Advances in Pickering Emulsion Templated Phase Change Material Microcapsules: Design, Fabrication, and Multifunctional Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Fabrication process of phase change microcapsules using a Pickering emulsion template method and their subsequent applications. The increasing demand for efficient thermal energy storage systems has driven the development of phase change material microcapsules (PCMMs), which provide high energy‐storage density, reversible phase change, and reduced ...

Facilitating Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Activity in Alkaline Water Electrolysis via Formation of Ni‐Co2P Heterojunction

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Ni‐Co2P synthesized via a co‐sputtering method exhibits enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity. The formation of a heterojunction between Ni and Co2P plays a crucial role in this enhancement. At the Ni‐Co2P junction, water dissociation is significantly promoted, while the Ni sites facilitate efficient hydrogen evolution.

Caribbean Spiny Lobster Fishery Is Underpinned by Trophic Subsidies from Chemosynthetic Primary Production.

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2016
The Caribbean spiny lobster, Panulirus argus, is one of the most valuable fisheries commodities in the Central American region, directly employing 50,000 people and generating >US$450 million per year [1]. This industry is particularly important to small

Alternative Data for Realised Volatility Forecasting: Limit Order Book and News Stories

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examine whether two major alternative data sources, limit order book information and firm‐specific news, provide incremental predictive information for daily realised volatility forecasting within the HAR‐family, using a parsimonious framework to ensure practical implementation and comparability. The framework is designed for practical real‐

Using art history to explore society's changing connections with agriculture

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Food insecurity is a looming challenge that especially affects those least fortunate. Consumer food choices have a substantial impact on the sustainability of current food systems. Here, we use art as a lens through which to consider our contemporary and historical relationship to one of the world's most crucial crops, the potato, in the context of the

Effect of Metal–Metal Distance on the Performance of Dual‐Atom Catalysts for the Oxygen Reduction Reaction: A Density Functional Theory and Micro‐kinetics Study

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Density functional theory calculations and microkinetic modeling were carried out on 108 dual‐atom catalysts with varied metalmetal distances ranging from 2.2 to 3.5 Å. The results reveal that moderate spacing of around 3.0 Å promotes bridging oxygen adsorption and dissociative reduction pathways, weakens the hydroxylhydroperoxyl scaling relationship ...
