Sensing Pre- and Post-Ecdysis of Tropical Rock Lobsters, Panulirus ornatus, Using a Low-Cost Novel Spectral Camera

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Tropical rock lobsters (Panulirus ornatus) are a highly cannibalistic species with intermoult animals predominantly attacking animals during ecdysis (moulting).

A holistic view of dietary carbohydrate utilization in lobster: digestion, postprandial nutrient flux, and metabolism. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Crustaceans exhibit a remarkable variation in their feeding habits and food type, but most knowledge on carbohydrate digestion and utilization in this group has come from research on few species.

Improving Survival of Juvenile Scalloped Spiny Lobster (Panulirus homarus) and Crucifix Crab (Charybdis feriatus) Using Shelter and Live Prey

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
Cannibalism is a major problem in lobster and crab aquaculture. Reducing the aggressive characteristics of lobsters and crabs can improve survival during the culturing process.

Effects of Artificial Shelters on Survival Rates and Growth Performances of Scalloped Spiny Lobster, Panulirus homarus (Linnaeus, 1758), Reared in Floating-Net Cages

open access: yesAsian Fisheries Science, 2022
Cannibalism causes severe losses and has been considered one of the most important challenges in lobster aquaculture. The present study aimed to assess the effects of artificial shelters on the survival rate and growth performances of the ...

Near-shore distribution of phyllosomas of the two only lobster species (Decapoda: Achelata) present in Robinson Crusoe Island and endemic to the Juan Fernández archipelago Distribución costera de filosomas de las dos únicas especies de langostas (Decapoda: Achelata) presentes en la Isla Robinson Crusoe y endémicas del archipiélago de Juan Fernández

open access: yesRevista Chilena de Historia Natural, 2011
Two lobster species coexist in the southeast Pacific Juan Fernández archipelago, Jasus frontalis (Milne-Edwards, 1837) and Acantharctus delfini (Bouvier, 1909).

Male reproductive system in stenopodidean shrimps: Unveiling basal reproductive traits in shrimp‐like Pleocyemata (Stenopodidae and Spongicolidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Stenopodidea represents one of the basal lineages within Pleocyemata, yet the male reproductive system (MRS) of this group remains poorly understood, with limited information available regarding its morphology and function. This study provides the first detailed description of the MRS in four stenopodidean shrimp species from two families ...

Dynamic Active Site Mechanism and Compositional Tuning in LaxSr1−xCoyFe1−yO3 (LSCF) Perovskites Toward Efficient Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A dynamic active site mechanism through cooperative metal–lattice oxygen interactions enables efficient oxygen evolution in LSCF perovskites without relying on oxygen vacancy formation, where the La/Sr ratio governs the intrinsic activity of LSCF and Co incorporation provides secondary enhancement, establishing a general composition‐guided paradigm for

Carbohydrates digestion and metabolism in the spiny lobster (Panulirus argus): biochemical indication for limited carbohydrate utilization [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2017
As other spiny lobsters, Panulirus argus is supposed to use preferentially proteins and lipids in energy metabolism, while carbohydrates are well digested but poorly utilized. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of dietary carbohydrate level

Facilitating Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Activity in Alkaline Water Electrolysis via Formation of Ni‐Co2P Heterojunction

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Ni‐Co2P synthesized via a co‐sputtering method exhibits enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity. The formation of a heterojunction between Ni and Co2P plays a crucial role in this enhancement. At the Ni‐Co2P junction, water dissociation is significantly promoted, while the Ni sites facilitate efficient hydrogen evolution.

Unveiling Strain‐Driven Catalysis in Magnesium Hydride via Ultrafine High‐Entropy Hydride

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The unprecedented, direct, and tailored synthesis of high‐entropy hydride (HEH) nanoparticles is achieved under ambient conditions via one‐step mechanochemical strategy and demonstrates exceptional catalytic behaviors in magnesium hydride (MgH2) hydrogen storage, where partially dehydrogenated HEH introduces abundant lattice strain and hydrogen ...
