Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...

Can a New Antiseptic Agent Reduce the Bacterial Colonization Rate of Central Venous Lines in Post- Cardiac Surgery Patients?

open access: yesJournal of Tehran University Heart Center, 2015
Background: Central venous (CV) catheters play an essential role in the management of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). CV lines are, however, allied to catheter-associated blood stream infections.

Understanding hybridisation: Towards a study of spaces of intercultural communication [PDF]

open access: yesRevista CIDOB d'Afers Internacionals, 2009
Intercultural communication is closely linked with the construction and functioning of cultural identity; thus, one way of analysing processes of intercultural communication is to adopt the idea of spaces of intercultural communication; places where ...

Comparison between ropivacaine and bupivacaine in deep topical fornix nerve block anesthesia in patients undergoing cataract surgery by phacoemulsification

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Purpose: In this study, we intend to analyze ropivacaine and bupivacaine in various parameters during phacoemulsification under deep topical fornix nerve block (DTFNB), a known form of nerve block for phacoemulsification.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Random local algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Consider the problem when we want to construct some structure on a bounded degree graph, e.g. an almost maximum matching, and we want to decide about each edge depending only on its constant radius neighbourhood.

The influence of ROS1 fusion partners and resistance mechanisms in ROS1‐TKI‐treated non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This real‐world study of ROS1+ NSCLC highlights fusion diversity, treatment outcomes with crizotinib and lorlatinib, and in vitro experiments with resistance mechanisms. G2032R drives strong resistance to ROS1‐targeted TKIs, especially lorlatinib. Fusion partner location does not affect overall survival to crizotinib or lorlatinib. Findings support the

Local Exchangeability

open access: yes, 2020
Exchangeability---in which the distribution of an infinite sequence is invariant to reorderings of its elements---implies the existence of a simple conditional independence structure that may be leveraged in the design of probabilistic models, efficient ...
