Local Indicators of Spatial Association—LISA
The capabilities for visualization, rapid data retrieval, and manipulation in geographic information systems (GIS) have created the need for new techniques of exploratory data analysis that focus on the “spatial” aspects of the data.

Regenerative Capacities of Chitosan-Nanoselenium Conduit on Transected Sciatic Nerve in Diabetic Rats: An Animal Model Study [PDF]
Objective: To assess regenerative capacities of chitosan-nanoselenium conduit on transected sciatic nerve in diabetic rats. Methods: A 10-mm sciatic nerve defect was bridged using a chitosan-nanoselenium conduit filled with phosphate buffered saline.

Bound non-locality and activation [PDF]
We investigate non-locality distillation using measures of non-locality based on the Elitzur-Popescu-Rohrlich decomposition. For a certain number of copies of a given non-local correlation, we define two quantities of interest: (i) the non-local cost, and (ii) the distillable non-locality.

A performance evaluation of local descriptors
In this paper we compare the performance of interest point descriptors. Many different descriptors have been proposed in the literature. However, it is unclear which descriptors are more appropriate and how their performance depends on the interest point

Local boundary representations of locally C*-algebras [PDF]
We initiate a study of non-commutative Choquet boundary for spaces of unbounded operators. We define the notion of local boundary representations for local operator systems in locally C$^*$-algebras and prove that local boundary representations provide an intrinsic invariant for a particular class of local operator systems.

PRACTICAL DETERMINATION OF THE COORDINATION NUMBER IN GRANULAR MEDIA
In a random stacking of particles, the coordination number is defined as the mean number of particles touching a given one. A classical measurement by image analysis is directly based on this definition.

Global and local contributions to corneal surface curvature: a simple model
Variations in corneal surface powers reflect variations in the geometry of the cornea. In particular one can regard corneal surface curvature as a combination of local and global effects.
