CHARACTERIZATIONS OF LOCALLY FINITE ACTIONS OF GROUPS ON SETS [PDF]
AbstractWe show that an action of a group on a setXis locally finite if and only ifXis not equidecomposable with a proper subset of itself. As a consequence, a group is locally finite if and only if its uniform Roe algebra is finite.

Are LEADER principles achieved in Local Action Groups? A systematic assessment of local representatives' perception [PDF]
Rural development is often hindered by the lack of human and social capital. The LEADER program is one of the European Union's financial instruments destined to improve the rural areas governance by introducing a set of institutional changes including ...

Locally compact convergence groups and $$n$$ n -transitive actions [PDF]
All sigma-compact, locally compact groups acting sharply n-transitively and continuously on compact spaces M have been classified, except for n=2,3 when M is infinite and disconnected. We show that no such actions exist for n=2 and that these actions for n=3 coincide with the action of a hyperbolic group on a space equivariantly homeomorphic to its ...

Deformation of Chains via a Local Symmetric Group Action [PDF]
A symmetric group action on the maximal chains in a finite, ranked poset is local if the adjacent transpositions act in such a way that $(i,i+1)$ sends each maximal chain either to itself or to one differing only at rank $i$. We prove that when $S_n$ acts locally on a lattice, each orbit considered as a subposet is a product of chains.
