An Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Strategy in Closed-loop Control of Anesthesia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This paper proposes an adaptive neuro-fuzzy framework to improve drug infusion rate in closed-loop control of anesthesia. The proposed controller provides a sub-optimal propofol administration rate as input to reach the desired bispectral index, which is the output of the system, in both induction and maintenance phases.

Do Buffered Local Anesthetics Provide More Successful Anesthesia Over Non-Buffered Solutions in Patients Requiring Dental Therapy? – A Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: The pH of commercially available local anesthetics (LAs) is purposefully low (pH 3–4). Decreasing the pH extends the shelf life of the solution and prevents its early oxidation.

Electric Pulse Regulated MXene Based Nanozymes for Integrative Bioelectricity Immuno‐Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXenzyme‐mediated bioelectricity cancer therapy (MXenzyme‐BECT) enhances cancer cell death through irreversible depolarization, ion channel disruption, ROS generation, and immunogenic cell death. Computational simulations reveal the electrical mechanisms by which MXenzyme acts on single cells and support to predict treatment parameters. Next‐generation

Multiple Instance Segmentation in Brachial Plexus Ultrasound Image Using BPMSegNet [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The identification of nerve is difficult as structures of nerves are challenging to image and to detect in ultrasound images. Nevertheless, the nerve identification in ultrasound images is a crucial step to improve performance of regional anesthesia.

Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.

Comparison of Local and Spinal Anesthesia for Inguinal Hernia Repair

open access: yesJournal of Health Science and Medical Research (JHSMR), 2010
Inguinal hernial repair is one of the most common surgical procedures in a general surgical practice. The usual anesthetic methods for elective inguinal herniorrhaphy are spinal or local anesthesia.

Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.
