Animal breeding in organic farming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
After a general introduction into the available breeding techniques for animal breeding and an overview of the organic principles, points for discussion are identified and scenario's for organically accepted breeding methods are ...

Amyloid β Instigates Cardiac Neurotrophic Signaling Impairment, Driving Alzheimer's Associated Heart Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This research identified cardiac amyloid pathology, neurotrophic factor depletion, and reduced myocardial nerve function in a transgenic model of cerebral amyloidosis (Tg2576), Aβ‐challenged cardiomyocytes, and in human AD heart tissue. These findings carry significant diagnostic and therapeutic implications, emphasizing the role of neuro‐signaling ...

Hierarchical Summary Statistics Encoding Across Primary Visual and Posterior Parietal Cortices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that mouse V1 simultaneously encodes the ensemble mean and variance of motion, providing a robust summary‐statistic representation that persists despite single‐neuron variability. These signals propagate to PPC, where they are transformed into abstract category representations during decision making.

Conservation of livestock genetic resources by targeted on-farm management: a case study of Hinterwälder Cattle in the Southern Black Forest [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This report was presented at the UK Organic Research 2002 Conference. All EU countries are obliged to conserve livestock genetic resources (UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Rio, 1992).

The Uppsala APP Mutation Promotes Wild‐Type Amyloid‐β Aggregation and Deposition In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigated in vivo cross‐seeding of amyloid‐β (Aβ) isoforms in transgenic mice co‐expressing wild‐typeAβ and the Uppsala‐mutant Aβ variant (AβUpp), lacking six central residues. Weleveraged MALDI‐MS imaging and hyperspectral microscopy to follow spatio‐temporalAβ deposition.

Deciphering and Targeting the Schwannoma‐Neuron‐Macrophage Crosstalk for the Treatment of Schwannomatosis and Associated Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We established patient‐derived SWN cell lines and orthotopic PDX models that recapitulate patient pain phenotypes, alongside a novel intravital DRG imaging platform to track macrophage infiltration and neuronal pain responses. Using these models, we define HMGB1–CCL2–IL‐6 signaling crosstalk driving pain and identify EGF signaling as a key regulator of

Adding Value to Organic Milk Production Systems: opportunities for marketing meat and milk from dual purpose breeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
There is growing demand for and supply of organic milk. This results in more organic steers being produced. Many organic steer calves are sold to non-organic producers or are destroyed at birth. This is a serious issue for the organic dairy sector. This

Biochemical polymorphism of several local breeds and cross breeds

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Veterinary Sciences
In the study to determine the genetic structure of local breeds and cross breeds of sheep, glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT) and phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (PGD) enzyme loci were examined by starch gel electrophoresis. In the present study, the red cell enzymes of 250 local breeds and cross breeds of sheep from Konya Central Animal Research
