Cooperative local dimming for accurate backlight brightness matching

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2011
A cooperative local dimming (CLD) method that effectively controls the brightness of the backlight unit is proposed. This CLD method takes into account the brightness of neighbouring light sources to achieve a backlight brightness that should be minimally higher than the brightness required by the pixels on the screen.

Developing Highly Effective Nanoparticle mRNA Therapeutic for Pediatric Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis‑induced pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome suppresses FOXF1 in lung endothelial cells which causes life‐threatening lung damage. To counter this, researchers developed nanoparticles that specifically target these cells and deliver FOXF1 mRNA.

The DIRECD Coronal Mass Ejection Direction Catalog: Three-dimensional Propagation Inferred from Coronal Dimmings

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are among the primary drivers of space weather disturbances at Earth, yet their early propagation in the low corona remains poorly constrained owing to occultation and projection effects inherent to coronagraph observations.

A clipper-free Algorithm for efficient HW-Implementation of local dimming LED-Backlight

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we present algorithms for the calculation of local dimming LED-Backlight. They assure clipper-free results and can be implemented at low HWcosts. The power saving is in average 38.7% compared to global dimming.

A Gut‐Brain Axis Underlying Succinate‐Associated Compulsive‐Like Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gut‐derived succinate is associated with an excitatory‐inhibitory imbalance in dmPFC glutamatergic neurons, involving microglial SUCNR1 activation and vagal afferent signaling via upregulated gut 5‐HT4 receptors along the DVC‐CeA‐dmPFC circuit, changes that are linked to excessive compulsive‐like behavior.
