Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Impact of the unplanned excision on the oncological outcomes of patients with soft tissue sarcomas: a single-center retrospective review of 490 patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to (1) compare the oncological results of patients who underwent re-excision after unplanned excision with those who underwent planned excision and (2) analyze the impact of local recurrences on oncological outcomes.

Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans Presenting as a Long-standing Infraclavicular Mass in a 79-year-old Male: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP) is a rare, low to intermediate-grade cutaneous soft-tissue sarcoma that is characterised by slow growth, local aggressiveness, and a high recurrence rate if inadequately excised.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Prognostic factors for patients with chondrosarcoma: A survival analysis based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (1973–2012)

open access: yesJournal of Bone Oncology, 2018
Current reports on prognostic factors for chondrosarcoma mainly involve patients in treatment centers. Few are based on multicenter or multi-eras.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Short-term outcomes after primary total mesorectal excision (TME) versus local excision followed by completion TME for early rectal cancer:population-based propensity-matched study [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: Colorectal cancer screening programmes have led to a shift towards early-stage colorectal cancer, which, in selected cases, can be treated using local excision.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Local Excision of Rectal Cancer.

open access: yesNippon Daicho Komonbyo Gakkai Zasshi, 1992
