Implicit 3D Human Reconstruction Guided by Parametric Models and Normal Maps

open access: yesJournal of Imaging
Accurate and robust 3D human modeling from a single image presents significant challenges. Existing methods have shown potential, but they often fail to generate reconstructions that match the level of detail in the input image.

A Comparative Study of SIFT and its Variants

open access: yesMeasurement Science Review, 2013
SIFT is an image local feature description algorithm based on scale-space. Due to its strong matching ability, SIFT has many applications in different fields, such as image retrieval, image stitching, and machine vision.

Superpixel-Based Feature Tracking for Structure from Motion

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Feature tracking in image collections significantly affects the efficiency and accuracy of Structure from Motion (SFM). Insufficient correspondences may result in disconnected structures and incomplete components, while the redundant correspondences ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Classification with Global, Local and Shared Features [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a framework that jointly learns and then uses multiple image windows for improved classification. Apart from using the entire image content as context, class-specific windows are added, as well as windows that target class pairs. The location and extent of the windows are set automatically by handling the window parameters as latent ...

Optimized encoder-based transformers for improved local and global integration in railway image classification

open access: yesFrontiers in Computer Science
Railway image classification (RIC) represents a critical application in railway infrastructure monitoring, involving the analysis of hyperspectral datasets with complex spatial-spectral relationships unique to railway environments.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Local feature encoding for unknown presentation attack detection: An analysis of different local feature descriptors

open access: yesIET Biometrics, 2021
In spite of the advantages of using fingerprints for subject authentication, several works have shown that fingerprint recognition systems can be easily circumvented by means of artificial fingerprints or presentation attack instruments (PAIs).

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
