Local-field enhancement in metallic nanoplanets

open access: yesMaterials Science and Engineering B: Solid-State Materials for Advanced Technology, 2008
Abstract Generalized Multiparticle Mie theory is applied in order to study in detail local-field properties of metallic nanoplanets (i.e., a central cluster surrounded by small “satellite” clusters very close to its surface), obtained by ion beam techniques. Strongly asymmetric dimers are chosen as model systems in order to establish the influence of

Local Capacitor Model for Plasmonic Electric Field Enhancement

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2009
We present a local capacitor model that enables a simple yet quantitatively accurate description of lightning rod effect in nanoplasmonics. A notion of lambda-zone capacitance is proposed and applied to predict the strongly induced electric field by a light source near nanoscale metal edges such as metal tip or metal gap.

Plasmonic nanostructures for local field enhancement in the UV region

open access: yesPhotonics and Nanostructures - Fundamentals and Applications, 2014
In this work we describe an ultraviolet subwavelength focusing in plasmonic nanostructures. A system which provides a 20-25 times local field enhancement at a wavelength of 350 nm is proposed.

Excitation of Local Field Enhancement on Silicon Nanowires

Nano Letters, 2008
The interaction between light and reduced-dimensionality silicon attracts significant interest due to the possibilities of designing nanoscaled optical devices, highly cost-efficient solar cells, and ultracompact optoelectronic systems that are integrated with standard microelectronic technology.

Enhancement Mode Ga2O3 Field Effect Transistor with Local Thinning Channel Layer

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
β−Ga2O3 field−effect transistors (FETs) were fabricated with and without local thinning to change the threshold voltage. A 220 nm Ga2O3 layer was mechanically exfoliated from a Cr−doped gallium oxide single crystal.

Transition metamaterials for local-field enhancement

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2017
We achieve strong local-field enhancement within a novel inhomogeneous metamaterial whose graded refractive index is realized using Dirac-cone metamaterials. This transition metamaterial provides a powerful tool for sensing, nonlinear optics, and quantum optics.

Local-field Enhanced Optical Nonlinearities

Nonlinear Optical Properties of Materials, 1988
We discuss the enhancement of optical nonlinearities due to local—field effects associated with small particles. This phenomenon is important for the large nonlinear response observed from optical phase conjugation in glass materials impregnated with metal or semiconductor microcrystallites1,2, and from surface-enhanced Raman scattering3 Predictions of

Evanescent wave scattering and local electric field enhancement at ellipsoidal silver particles in the vicinity of a glass surface

open access: yesJournal of the Optical Society of America A: Optics and Image Science, and Vision, 2004
We report on the numerical analysis of the local electric field enhancement of nanosized silver ellipsoids placed in the evanescent field near a glass surface.
