Local Head Loss Coefficients of Riffle Pools in Gravel-Bed Rivers

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2013
AbstractCase studies of energy loss over bed forms in gravel-bed rivers are needed to determine local loss coefficients for modeling and design. In this study, an intense field campaign in two rivers is used to determine energy loss and calculate local energy loss coefficients (Ke) for riffle-pool units.

Energy Flow Calculation of Electricity-Heat Integrated Energy System Considering Local Head Loss

2020 4th International Conference on Power and Energy Engineering (ICPEE), 2020
Energy flow calculation of IES (integrated energy system) aims to calculate the node voltage and pressure, branch current and mass flow rate, working medium temperature and other state parameters according to known information. In the existing researches on energy flow calculation, only the friction head loss is considered and the influence of local ...

Simulation of Local Head Loss in Trickle Lateral Lines Equipped with In‐line Emitters Based on Dimensional Analysis

Irrigation and Drainage, 2018
Abstractin order to investigate local head loss in trickle lateral lines equipped with integrated in‐line emitters, experiments were conducted on four common drip irrigation pipes of varying size, and CFD software was used to simulate and verify the results. Simulations of total head loss agreed well with the experimental data.

An improved finite element model for the hydraulic analysis of drip irrigation subunits considering local emitter head loss

Irrigation Science, 2019
A good hydraulic design of drip irrigation systems requires an accurate evaluation of the friction head loss that occurs in pipes as well as the local head loss induced by the presence of emitters. Previous approaches on theoretical design usually neglect the local emitter head loss or consider it equal to the friction loss produced by an equivalent ...

Influence of the Inclination Angle of the Side Wall of Drip Emitters on Local Head Loss in Drip Irrigation Tubes

Irrigation and Drainage
ABSTRACT To study the influence of the end face inclination angle of an emitter on local head loss in a drip irrigation pipe, the end face of an in‐line emitter was designed with various inclination angles; four levels—15°, 30°, 45°, and 90°—were set; and irrigation experiments and numerical simulations were carried out.

Determination of the Equivalent Length for Evaluating Local Head Losses in Drip Irrigation Laterals

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2022
HighlightsA hydraulic model was used to determine the value of the equivalent length for evaluating local emitter head losses in drip laterals.Dimensional analysis was used to develop an equation for predicting the equivalent length. The effects of the design variables on the equivalent length were investigated. The accuracy of the equation was validated
