Local hyperthermia case study

Archives of Medical Laboratory Sciences, 2016
best treatment option, although, there is no common consent on optimal therapy for advanced prostate cancer. Case Presentation: The present study reports a case of 75 year-old man who had a huge heterogeneous soft tissue mass lesion with non-homogeneous enhancement consisted low attenuated foci occupying pelvis cavity and lower abdomen with loss of ...

Planar applicators for local hyperthermia

2009 19th International Conference Radioelektronika, 2009
The object of this paper is to show two types of microwave planar applicators for local hyperthermia, a spiral and a slot applicator. Planar structures can be very useful for realization of applicators. The working frequency of these applicators is 434MHz.

Inhibition of Erythema and Local Hyperthermia

1979
Each of the four cardinal signs of inflammation (rubor, calor, tumor, dolor), as recorded by Celsus in the first century A.D., has been used by pharmacologists to establish methods for the detection and definition of anti-inflammatory substances (Swingle, 1974).

Microstrip Applicator for Local Hyperthermia

2007 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications, 2007
The possibility to use shorted circular micros trip antenna as an applicator for local hyperthermia is described in this paper. This applicator is designed to provide a local treatment on areas located on the body surface or in its proximity. The applicator is designed by aid of 3D electromagnetic field simulator SEMCAD X light at working frequency of ...

Local hyperthermia case study

Archives of Medical Laboratory Sciences, 2017
Prostate cancer is the second most common reason of death in men. Multidisciplinary therapy is the best treatment option, although, there is no common consent on optimal therapy for advanced prostate cancer. The present study reports a case of 75 year-old male who had a huge heterogeneous soft tissue mass lesion with non-homogeneous enhancement ...

Equipment for the clinical application of local microwave hyperthermia

Medical Physics, 1983
The desirable features of equipment intended for the clinical application of local microwave hyperthermia are identified and the design of a machine incorporating these features is described. An assessment of the technical aspects of the performance of the equipment is given.

Local hyperthermia to canine prostateA pilot study

Urology, 1990
Repeated treatments of localized deep microwave hyperthermia were given to a series of dogs by means of a 915 MHz, water-cooled skirt-type applicator. The applicator was inserted into the rectum and directed toward the prostate in order to heat it by means of the absorbed microwaves while keeping the rectal wall at a lower temperature by surface ...

The effect of local hyperthermia on the small intestine of the mouse

The British Journal of Radiology, 1979
Small loops of mouse jejunum were exteriorized and heated by immersion in a bath of Krebs-Ringer salt solution. Crypts were lost in the heated regions with a half-time of approximately six hours and reached a steady level of damage by 10--16 hours. There was no recovery in crypt number for one week after hyperthermia.

Local Hyperthermia mi Irradiation in Cancer Therapy

Journal of Microwave Power, 1981
The preliminary experience at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology with hyperthermia and irradiation is reported and current issues in clinical application of heat are reviewed. Twenty-nine lesions were treated with 400 rad fractions given every 72 hr (twice weekly) for a total dose of 2400 to 4000 rad followed by hyperthermia (1450-MHz or 915-MHz ...

Vascular Meets of Localized Hyperthermia

2008
When hyperthermia is applied in vitro, no fundamental differences can be seen between the response to normal and tumor cells. In vivo however, selective damage of tumor cells can be achieved and this phenomenon can be largely attributed to a number of characteristic properties of the blood vessels within solid tumors.
