Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Do peixe com farinha à macarronada com frango: uma análise das transformações na rede urbana no Alto Solimões pela perspectiva dos padrões alimentares.

open access: yesConfins, 2017
The changes and continuities in eating patterns are indicative of complex social and environmental change. The transformation from a diet based on products gathered, fished, hunted, planted or even purchased locally for a “supermarket diet”, indicates ...

Multifunctions and contributions of grassland-based livestock systems in North-West Vietnam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In Northwest mountains of Vietnam, the smallholder livestock farms depend largely on natural pastures for animal feed. However, the management or improvement of grazing areas has not yet been recognized or regulated by local authorities.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

LOCAL BORCHERDS PRODUCTS FOR UNITARY GROUPS [PDF]

open access: yesNagoya Mathematical Journal, 2017
For the modular variety attached to an arithmetic subgroup of an indefinite unitary group of signature $(1,n+1)$, with $n\geqslant 1$, we study Heegner divisors in the local Picard group over a boundary component of a compactification. For this purpose, we introduce local Borcherds products.

Impaired Local Production of Proresolving Lipid Mediators in Obesity and 17-HDHA as a Potential Treatment for Obesity-Associated Inflammation

open access: yesDiabetes, 2013
Obesity-induced chronic low-grade inflammation originates from adipose tissue and is crucial for obesity-driven metabolic deterioration, including insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
