The Transitivity of Local Warfield Groups
In any algebraic system two elements are indistinguishable in some sense if one can be mapped onto the other by an automorphism. This is a global property and one may ask how this relation between elements can be detected locally by inspecting the elements. Let \(G\) be an abelian group and \(a\) and \(b\) two elements of \(G\).

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

General quantum measurements: Local transition maps [PDF]
On the basis of four physically motivated assumptions, it is shown that a general quantum measurement of commuting observables can be represented by a “local transition map,” a special type of positive linear map on a von Neumann algebra. In the case that the algebra is the bounded operators on a Hilbert space, these local transition maps share two ...

Localization transition in incommensurate non-Hermitian systems [PDF]
A class of one-dimensional lattice models with incommensurate complex potential $V( )=2[ _r cos( )+i _i sin( )]$ is found to exhibit localization transition at $| _r|+| _i|=1$. This transition from extended to localized states manifests in the behavior of the complex eigenspectum.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Popliteal lymphadenectomy for treating metastatic melanoma: case report
CONTEXT: Regional lymph node involvement in patients with malignant melanomas has been associated with poor prognosis. In-transit metastases also lead to poor long-term survival.

Localization transition in symmetric random matrices [PDF]
We study the behavior of the inverse participation ratio and the localization transition in infinitely large random matrices through the cavity method. Results are shown for two ensembles of random matrices: Laplacian matrices on sparse random graphs and fully connected Lévy matrices.

Transit in Washington, D.C.: Current Benefits and Optimal Level of Provision [PDF]
The discrepancy between transit’s large share of local transportation resources and its generally low share of local trips has raised questions about the use of scarce transportation funds for this purpose.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Applying data science to analyze internal trip capture for station area neighborhoods
Local accessibility, or accessibility by proximity, is a planning priority that is increasingly discussed within the context of the 15-Minute City. The goal of local accessibility is both to facilitate residents’ quality of life and to promote more ...
