To use public transit, riders must complete first and last mile trip segments. However, transportation planning measures of access to opportunity often assume that transit riders can complete first and last mile trips with ease. This paper contributes to

Delocalization-Localization Transition due to Anharmonicity [PDF]
Analytical and numerical calculations for a reduced Fermi-Pasta-Ulam chain demonstrate that energy localization does not require more than one conserved quantity. Clear evidence for the existence of a sharp delocalization-localization transition at a critical amplitude is given.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Planning for TOD at the regional scale: The Big Picture [PDF]
Transit-oriented development, or TOD, is typically understood to be a mix of housing, retail and/or commercial development and amenities — referred to as “mixed-use development” — in a walkable neighborhood with high-quality public transportation ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Statewide Transit Goal Setting [PDF]
State departments of transportation (DOTs) are gradually incorporating a performance-based approach to their transportation planning. This includes setting statewide goals for the different systems that make up the state\u27s transportation network ...

PUBLIC TRANSIT ACCESS TO PRIVATE PROPERTY [PDF]
Under contract with the Florida Department of Transportation, the Center for Urban Transportation Research was asked to (a) assess the issues surrounding the legal rights of public transit agencies to enter and serve private property, and (b) identify ...

Popliteal lymphadenectomy for treating metastatic melanoma: case report
CONTEXT: Regional lymph node involvement in patients with malignant melanomas has been associated with poor prognosis. In-transit metastases also lead to poor long-term survival.
