LOCALLY LOCALIZED GRAVITY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2001
We study the fluctuation spectrum of linearized gravity around non-fine-tuned branes. We focus on the case of an AdS 4 brane in AdS 5. In this case, for small cosmological constant, the warp factor near the brane is essentially that of a Minkowski brane. However, far from the brane, the metric differs substantially.

On Locality of Local Explanation Models

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
Shapley values provide model agnostic feature attributions for model outcome at a particular instance by simulating feature absence under a global population distribution. The use of a global population can lead to potentially misleading results when local model behaviour is of interest.

ISOTONIC CLOSURE FUNCTIONS ON A LOCALE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebraic Systems
In this paper, we introduce and study isotonic closure functions on a locale. These are pairs of the form $(L, \underline{{\mathrm{cl}}}_L)$, where$L$ is a locale and $\underline{{\mathrm{cl}}}_L\colon \mathcal{S}\!\ell(L) \rightarrow \mathcal{S}\!\ell(L)

On locales of localizations

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 1987
A localization of a category \({\mathcal A}\) is a reflective subcategory \({\mathcal C}\to {\mathcal A}\) with left exact reflector \(r: {\mathcal A}\to {\mathcal C}\). It is well known that in certain cases the localizations of \({\mathcal A}\), Loc \({\mathcal A}\), (ordered by inclusion of subcategories), forms the dual of a locale.

Hepatitis C virus cascade of care in the general population, in people with diabetes, and in substance use disorder patients

open access: yesInfectious Agents and Cancer, 2021
Background The aim was to evaluate the hepatitis C virus (HCV) cascade of care in the general population (GP) and in two high-risk populations: patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and substance users (AS) in treatment in Reggio Emilia Province, Italy ...

Locality and Non locality

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Applied Physics, 2020
Aim: Whether, under all the circumstances considered, a relativistic concept of locality and non-locality may fully reproduce the quantum probabilities for outcomes of experiments, is re-investigated.Methods: The usual methods and rules of statistics, probability theory and quantum mechanics were used.

Notes on the spatial part of a frame [PDF]

open access: yesCategories and General Algebraic Structures with Applications
A locale (frame) L has a largest spatial sublocale generated by the primes (spectrum points), the spatial part SpL. In this paper we discuss some of the properties of the embeddings SpL ⊆ L.

Clustering in Celebrating Professor Themba A. Dube (A TAD Celebration II) [PDF]

open access: yesCategories and General Algebraic Structures with Applications
This paper is the second in the series celebrating the mathematical works of Professor Themba Dube. In this sequel, we give prominence to Dube's pivotal contributions on pointfree convergence at the unstructured frame level, in the category of locales ...

The role of local steps in local SGD

open access: yesOptimization Methods and Software, 2023
We consider the distributed stochastic optimization problem where $n$ agents want to minimize a global function given by the sum of agents' local functions, and focus on the heterogeneous setting when agents' local functions are defined over non-i.i.d. data sets.

A New HRCT Score for Diagnosing SARS-CoV-2 Pneumonia: A Single-Center Study with 1153 Suspected COVID-19 Patients in the Emergency Department

open access: yesInternational Journal of Translational Medicine, 2023
The 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is affecting millions of people worldwide. Chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is commonly used as a diagnostic test for suspected COVID-19; however, despite numerous attempts, there is no ...
