Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Bulk locality and quantum error correction in AdS/CFT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A bstractWe point out a connection between the emergence of bulk locality in AdS/CFT and the theory of quantum error correction. Bulk notions such as Bogoliubov transformations, location in the radial direction, and the holographic entropy bound all have

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Exploiting Locality in Graph Analytics through Hardware-Accelerated Traversal Scheduling

open access: yesMicro, 2018
Graph processing is increasingly bottlenecked by main memory accesses. On-chip caches are of little help because the irregular structure of graphs causes seemingly random memory references.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Localization of Universal Problems. Local Colimits [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Categorical Structures, 2002
Let \({\mathcal A}\) be a category and \({\mathcal B}\), \({\mathcal B}'\) two full subcategories of \({\mathcal A}\). An \({\mathcal A}\)-cylinder from \({\mathcal B}\) to \({\mathcal B}'\) is a couple \((F,f)\) of a map \(F:\text{Obj}({\mathcal B})\to \text{Obj} ({\mathcal B}')\) and a map \(f:\text{Obj}({\mathcal B})\to \text{Mor} ({\mathcal B ...

Locality-sensitive hashing for the edit distance

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2019
Motivation Sequence alignment is a central operation in bioinformatics pipeline and, despite many improvements, remains a computationally challenging problem. Locality Sensitive Hashing (LSH) is one method used to estimate the likelihood of two sequences

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Putting Local Governments of Ecuador at the Heart of Urban Marketing [PDF]

open access: yesKošická bezpečnostná revue, 2022
Ecuadorian local governments are demanding Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in order to provide jobs for youths and the ability to generate new businesses. Urban marketing in Ecuador shall be in the focus.

Non-locality Correlation in Two Driven Qubits Inside an Open Coherent Cavity: Trace Norm Distance and Maximum Bell Function

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
We analytically investigate two separated qubits inside an open cavity field. The cavity is initially prepared in a superposition coherent state.
