The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Problems of Good Governance in Managing Indonesia’s Borderland: The Case of Entikong Subdistrict

open access: yesJSP: Jurnal Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik
The present study explores the good governance processes of border management in Entikong Subdistrict. The Entikong Subdistrict in West Kalimantan is a priority district that receives special attention from Indonesian central and local governments.

Ku redefinicji ludobójstwa: realia lokalne

open access: yesEthics in Progress, 2014
Looking at local circumstances such as a neighborhood compels a reformulation of genocide. Their exposure of the incremental escalation of assault makes clear that intention, though a necessary condition of genocide, isn’t always a sufficient one ...

About Locality and the Relativity Principle Beyond Special Relativity

open access: yes, 2011
Locality of interactions is an essential ingredient of Special Relativity. Recently, a new framework under the name of relative locality \cite{AmelinoCamelia:2011bm} has been proposed as a way to consider Planckian modifications of the relativistic ...

Localized Complications from Local Anesthesia

open access: yesJournal of the California Dental Association, 1998
The inherent safety of local anesthetics allows practitioners to use them frequently with the confidence that adverse events are rare. Nevertheless, complications can occur. The aim of this article is to briefly review the localized adverse events that may result from local anesthetic administration.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Renormalisation via locality morphisms

open access: yes, 2018
This is a survey on renormalisation in the locality setup highlighting the role that locality morphisms can play for renormalisation purposes. Having set up a general framework to build regularisation maps, we illustrate renormalisation by locality ...

EPR, Bell, and Quantum Locality

open access: yes, 2011
Maudlin has claimed that no local theory can reproduce the predictions of standard quantum mechanics that violate Bell's inequality for Bohm's version (two spin-half particles in a singlet state) of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen problem. It is argued that,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Combining Popularity and Locality to Enhance In-Network Caching Performance and Mitigate Pollution Attacks in Content-Centric Networking

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Content-centric networking (CCN) aims to improve network reliability, scalability, and security by changing the way that information is organized and retrieved in the current Internet. One critical issue in CCN is in-network cache allocation. It is known
