In advanced colorectal cancer, tumors with mature tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) exhibited abundant infiltration of CD3‐ and CD8‐positive lymphocytes in both primary and metastatic sites, indicating an activated immune response. The presence of mature TLS was also associated with favorable chemotherapy sensitivity and improved prognosis.

Anti-programmed cell death protein-1/ligand-1 therapy in different cancers. [PDF]
Immunologic checkpoint blockade with antibodies against the programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) or its ligand (PD-L1) is an effective method for reversing cancer immunosuppression and thereby promoting immune responses against several cancer types ...

This systematic review and meta‐analysis of 38 studies, encompassing over 5000 patients, compared extralevator abdominoperineal excision (ELAPE) with standard abdominoperineal excision (APE) in patients with advanced low rectal cancer. ELAPE was associated with significantly improved overall and disease‐free survival, reduced intraoperative perforation

Updates in Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cancer cause mortality in both men and women. Pancreatic cancer is usually diagnosed in the advanced setting, and only 10-15% of patients present with operable disease. About 25% are locally advanced and unresectable and the rest are metastatic.

Hypofractionated ablative radiotherapy for locally advanced pancreatic cancer [PDF]
The role of radiation in locally advanced unresectable pancreatic cancer (LAPC) is controversial. Randomized trials evaluating standard doses of chemoradiation have not shown a significant benefit from the use of consolidative radiation. Results from non-randomized studies of 3-5-fraction stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) have been similar to ...

ABSTRACT Aim To examine the significance of portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) as a prognostic factor for patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) treated with chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by surgery. Methods The study retrospectively examined 313 patients with borderline resectable (BR) or locally advanced (LA) PDAC who underwent CRT ...

Local Delivery of CTLA-4 Blockade Inhibits Growth of Pancreatic Tumors [PDF]
Immune checkpoint blockade has demonstrated great potential in activating antitumor immunity. Ipilimumab is a monoclonal antibody which targets cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4. CTLA-4 belongs to the CD28 class of receptors and is found on the surface of
