Are locally finite MV-algebras a variety? [PDF]
We answer Mundici's problem number 3 (D. Mundici. Advanced Łukasiewicz calculus. Trends in Logic Vol. 35. Springer 2011, p. 235): Is the category of locally finite MV-algebras equivalent to an equational class? We prove: (i) The category of locally finite MV-algebras is not equivalent to any finitary variety.

FINITENESS PROPERTIES OF LOCALLY FINITE ABELIAN VARIETIES [PDF]
We show that any locally finite abelian variety is generated by a finite algebra. We solve a problem posed by D. Hobby and R. McKenzie by exhibiting a nonfinitely based finite abelian algebra.

Ways of obtaining topological measures on locally compact spaces [PDF]
Topological measures and quasi-linear functionals generalize measures and li\-near functionals. Deficient topological measures, in turn, generalize topological measures.

On quasi-identities of finite modular lattices
In 1970 R. McKenzie proved that any finite lattice has a finite basis of identities. However the similar result for quasi-identities is not true. That is there is a finite lattice that has no finite basis of quasi-identities.

A Categorical Approach to Syntactic Monoids [PDF]
The syntactic monoid of a language is generalized to the level of a symmetric monoidal closed category $\mathcal D$. This allows for a uniform treatment of several notions of syntactic algebras known in the literature, including the syntactic monoids of ...

Absorbing Subalgebras, Cyclic Terms, and the Constraint Satisfaction Problem [PDF]
The Algebraic Dichotomy Conjecture states that the Constraint Satisfaction Problem over a fixed template is solvable in polynomial time if the algebra of polymorphisms associated to the template lies in a Taylor variety, and is NP-complete otherwise ...

A Characterization of Minimal Locally Finite Varieties [PDF]
In this paper we describe a one–variable Mal′cev–like condition satisfied by any locally finite minimal variety. We prove that a locally finite variety is minimal if and only if it satisfies this Mal′cev–like condition and it is generated by a strictly simple algebra which is nonabelian or has a trivial subalgebra.

Locally Finite Ring Varieties [PDF]
Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for a variety of associative rings to be locally finite. These conditions are utilized to show that a variety is generated by a finite ring if, and only if, it contains only finitely many subvarieties.
