Antireflux versus conventional self-expanding metallic Stents (SEMS) for distal esophageal cancer: results of a multicenter randomized trial

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2016
Introduction: Self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) are commonly used in the palliation of dysphagia in patients with inoperable esophageal carcinoma. However, they predispose to gastroesophageal reflux when deployed across the gastroesophageal junction ...

The Auslander-Gorenstein property for Z-algebras

open access: yes, 2013
We provide a framework for part of the homological theory of Z-algebras and their generalizations, directed towards analogues of the Auslander-Gorenstein condition and the associated double Ext spectral sequence that are useful for enveloping algebras of

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Dose-Dependent Amelioration of Protein-Energy Malnutrition in Rats by Trigonella foenum-graecum Seed Supplementation

open access: yesUMYU Journal of Microbiology Research
Protein-Energy Malnutrition (PEM) is most prevalent in low- and middle-income countries, where 45% of child deaths were attributed to under-nutrition.  Trigonella foenum-graecum (fenugreek) seed is known for its important phytonutrients.

The geometry of characters of Hopf algebras

open access: yes, 2017
Character groups of Hopf algebras appear in a variety of mathematical contexts such as non-commutative geometry, renormalisation of quantum field theory, numerical analysis and the theory of regularity structures for stochastic partial differential ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Fr\'echet globalisations of Harish-Chandra supermodules

open access: yes, 2016
For any Lie supergroup whose underlying Lie group is reductive, we prove an extension of the Casselman-Wallach globalisation theorem: There is an equivalence between the category of Harish-Chandra modules and the category of SF-representations (smooth Fr\

Milnor’s alternative for finitely generated relatively free groups that are locally graded

open access: yesRendiconti del Seminario Matematico della Università di Padova, 2020
Let G be a finitely generated relatively free group that is locally graded. We show that either G contains a non-trivial free subsemigroup or

Adherence to the Mediterranean diet and grade group progression in localized prostate cancer: An active surveillance cohort

open access: yesCancer, 2021
BackgroundThe Mediterranean diet (MD) may be beneficial for men with localized prostate cancer (PCa) on active surveillance (AS) because of its anti‐inflammatory, antilipidemic, and chemopreventive properties. This study prospectively investigated adherence to the MD with Gleason score progression and explored associations by diabetes status, statin ...
