Human ESC-Derived MSCs Outperform Bone Marrow MSCs in the Treatment of an EAE Model of Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2014
Current therapies for multiple sclerosis (MS) are largely palliative, not curative. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) harbor regenerative and immunosuppressive functions, indicating a potential therapy for MS, yet the variability and low potency of MSCs from

From Thinking as Property to Thinking in Common: A Note on the Vocabulary of Appropriation in Martin Lenz’ “Socializing Minds”

open access: yesJournal of Spinoza Studies, 2023
That we think our own thoughts and that in thinking these thoughts we are with ourselves, independent of others, is a persistent belief. Martin Lenz unsettles this belief in his volume “Socializing Minds” by showing how Spinoza, Locke and Hume already ...

Potential Clinical Applications for Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Blood Components

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2011
The ability of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to divide indefinitely without losing pluripotency and to theoretically differentiate into any cell type in the body makes them highly attractive cell sources ...

Injection‐locked oscillator lock detector [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2016
A simple circuit that is able to indicate if an injection‐locked oscillator is in the locked condition by providing a ‘high’ or ‘low’ output is presented. The detector is compatible with most injection‐locked oscillators as all that is required is access to the low‐frequency bias circuit, with no direct access needed to the RF/microwave signals.

Locking Timestamps versus Locking Objects [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2018 ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing, 2018
We present multiversion timestamp locking (MVTL), a new genre of multiversion concurrency control algorithms for serializable transactions. The key idea behind MVTL is simple: lock individual timestamps instead of locking objects. After presenting a generic MVTL algorithm, we demonstrate MVTL's expressiveness: we give several simple MVTL algorithms ...
