Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum organelle glue as maturation promoter for origination/dimensional dual‐cross cardiomyocytes

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Mitochondria‐endoplasmic reticulum contact sites (MERCS) are areas where the mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum closely interact. In this study, we utilize synthetic organelle glues to artificially engineer MERCS for regulating cardiomyocyte development, through which the immature and chemo‐plasticity issues of undifferentiated cells are addressed.

Supplementary Medial Locking Plate Fixation Of Ludloff Osteotomy versus Sole Lag Screw Fixation: A Biomechanical evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: The Ludloff oblique osteotomy is inherently unstable, which might lead to delayed union and loss of correction. Supplementary fixation to two lag screw fixation has been proposed.

Electron compensation‐gated nanomotor for immunomodulation and microenvironment remodeling in bacterial pneumonia therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A nanomotor featuring an “electronic lock” via electron compensation in an Au‐Ag alloy ensures therapeutic precision. Near‐infrared light acts as a key, unlocking on‐demand Ag+ release for synergistic bactericidal action and microenvironment remodeling to potently treat bacterial pneumonia. Abstract Bacterial pneumonia treatment is severely hampered by

Biomechanical comparison of a novel C1 posterior locking plate with the harms technique in a C1-C2 fixation model

open access: yes, 2008
STUDY DESIGN: A biomechanical testing protocol was used to study atlantoaxial fixation techniques in a human cadaveric model. OBJECTIVE: To compare the in vitro biomechanics of locking plate fixation of the posterior arch of C1 to C2 laminar screw ...

From pathogen to “living drug factory” innovative strategies and clinical translation of bacteria as programmable intelligent vectors for cancer therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Engineered bacteria serve as smart, living therapeutics that target tumors, deliver drugs, and remodel immunosuppressive microenvironments. This review highlights their potential to potentiate immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, offering a promising paradigm for precise and synergistic cancer treatment. Abstract The dynamic interplay between

How Circular Innovation Is Learned: A Process Study of Modularity‐Based Initiatives in Industrial Firms

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Circular innovation (CI) research has identified a wide range of circular strategies and design approaches, yet offers limited insight into how CI evolves as a learning process within firms and which governance mechanisms guide this progression. Drawing on organizational learning (OL), this study examines how exploration and exploitation shape

Hindfoot Instability Test—Introduction and Validation of an Intraoperative Diagnostic Test of Hindfoot Instability in Deltoid Ligament Injury Associated With Ankle Fractures

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The deltoid ligament complex (DLC) is well‐known as an ankle joint stabilizer; however, through the superficial DLC, it also acts at the subtalar joint and helps to maintain the medial longitudinal arch. DLC repair in the presence of an ankle fracture remains a topic of controversy in the current literature.

Applications of Biomaterials in Separators for Secondary Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
In this review, biomaterial‐based separators are reviewed as sustainable alternatives to conventional polyolefin‐based separators. For 12 different natural polymers, spanning from Protista, Plantae, and Animalia, viable strategies for synthesizing biomass‐based separators are described.

Distal radius nonunion after volar locking plate fixation of a distal radius fracture : a case report

open access: yes
We describe a 59-year-old man who had nonunion of a right distal radius fracture after volar locking plate fixation. He underwent open reduction and internal fixation with a volar locking plate system for a dorsally displaced, unstable distal radius ...

Purification, Fluorescent Labeling, and Detyrosination of Mammalian Cell Tubulin for Biochemical Assays

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microtubules play essential roles in numerous cellular processes. All microtubules are built from the protein tubulin, yet individual microtubules can differ spatially and temporally due to their tubulin isotype composition and post‐translational modifications (PTMs).
