Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Steeper medial posterior tibial slope is associated with bilateral ACL injuries: A radiographic comparison with unilateral cases

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose The posterior tibial slope (PTS) plays a key role in knee biomechanics and may influence the risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture as well as the outcomes of its reconstruction.

Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Fasciotomies for Patients With Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
Chronic exertional compartment syndrome is a well-described potential cause of leg pain in high-level athletes and soldiers. Surgical treatment of chronic exertional compartment syndrome usually involves fasciotomy, with a reported rate of complications ...

Deep Reinforcement Learning for Tensegrity Robot Locomotion

open access: yes, 2017
Tensegrity robots, composed of rigid rods connected by elastic cables, have a number of unique properties that make them appealing for use as planetary exploration rovers.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Inclined Surface Locomotion Strategies for Spherical Tensegrity Robots

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents a new teleoperated spherical tensegrity robot capable of performing locomotion on steep inclined surfaces. With a novel control scheme centered around the simultaneous actuation of multiple cables, the robot demonstrates robust ...

A two-dimensional model of low-Reynolds number swimming beneath a free surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Biological organisms swimming at low Reynolds number are often influenced by the presence of rigid boundaries and soft interfaces. In this paper we present an analysis of locomotion near a free surface with surface tension.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Exploring the control of whole-body angular momentum in young and elderly based on the virtual pivot point concept

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science
While walking, ground reaction forces point from the centre of pressure to the neighbourhood of a focal point, namely the virtual pivot point (VPP), that adjusts angular momentum around the centre of mass (CoM).

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.
