Locomotion behaviour.

open access: yes, 2004
By far the most characteristic traits of nematodes are their extremely narrow streamlined body and undulatory style of locomotion, useful in their common burrowing habit. These traits have enabled them to be successful in an amazingly wide range of free-living and parasitic environments that is without parallel in other meiofauna.

Decoupling Photochemical and Photothermal Effects Using Molecular Motors Enables Fast, Intelligent, and Life‐Like Motions in Soft Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A light‐responsive liquid crystal (LC) polymer network integrating molecular rotary motors and photothermal converters enables the decoupling of photochemical and photothermal effects. Selective wavelength activation allows orthogonal control over persistent shape encoding and fast reversible motion, enabling programmable soft robots capable of complex

Optimization Method of Locomotive Working Diagram Layout

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2019
Rational scheduling of locomotive paths (the locus of the locomotive point in the train working diagram) is an important step in drawing a locomotive working diagram by a computer. But there are some problems in this process, such as the computer usually

Bioinspired Adaptive Surfaces for Intelligent Liquid Manipulation: Progressing From Passive and Active to Hybrid Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines passive, active, and hybrid liquid manipulation strategies, highlighting hybrid approaches as an emerging route to reconcile energy efficiency with adaptive control. By actively reconstructing passive surfaces to store programmable interfacial energy, hybrid systems enable flexible yet low‐power liquid transport, with perspectives ...

Active Flow Control for High-Speed Trains: From Local Flow Manipulation to Mission-Adaptive Aerodynamic Control

open access: yesFluids
High-speed train aerodynamics have mainly been improved by passive design methods, such as streamlined noses, local fairings, and surface smoothing. These methods have achieved clear benefits, but several important aerodynamic problems remain difficult ...

Soft Skins With Reversible Thickness Morphing: Materials, Mechanisms, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Evolution of electronic skin (e‐skin) technologies toward adaptive, multifunctional soft skins. Phase I highlights early rigid and discrete sensory interfaces. Phase II shows the transition toward flexible, stretchable, and large‐area e‐skin. Phase III captures the emergence of computational e‐skin.

Mechanically Assisted Magnetic Actuation in Ceramic‐Based Microscrolls for Fast and Durable Soft Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.
