Locomotor activity in the ischemic gerbil

Brain Research, 1993
Previous studies have shown that within 24 h after ischemic insult, gerbils exhibit an increase in locomotor activity. Because activity gradually diminishes to normal levels with repeated testing, it has been argued that this behavior represents a reversible or transient effect of ischemia.

Locomotor Activity in Rodents

2007
Many of the behavioral parameters exhibited by an organism show daily fluctuations. These may persist under constant environmental conditions, demonstrating that they are governed by an endogenous (circadian) clock. The monitoring of locomotor activity in rodents is probably one of the most common methods to track this endogenous timing system.

Locomotor Activity in Drosophila Melanogaster

Netherlands Journal of Zoology, 1984
The effects of various experimental conditions on locomotor activity of adult Drosophila melanogaster flies of both sexes were measured in the locometer. This apparatus measures linear progression of flies and is based on the fractionating principle of mazes used for behavioural studies.

Circadian locomotor activity inAplysia

Journal of Comparative Physiology, 1972
1. A simple activity wheel for automatic and continuous recording of the locomotor activity of aquatic or marine animals is described (Figs. 1 and 2). 2. Aplysia californica is diurnally active, but shows a tendency to remain active for a few hours after the light-dark transition.

Role of mesencephalic glycine in locomotor activity

Neuroscience Letters, 1985
Microinjection of glycine (20 micrograms) into the ventral mesencephalon of rats caused a stimulation of locomotor activity. Microinjection of haloperidol (5 micrograms) into the nucleus accumbens immediately before the glycine injection did not reduce this locomotor stimulation. In rats with 6-hydroxydopamine-induced destruction of mesolimbic dopamine

Primate Locomotor Activity

2019
... SYNOPSIS: The data below come from journals articles, meeting abstracts, books chapters, and theses published before 2015. Preference was given to complete repertoire, catalog-style studies over experiments. A lack of a quantitative estimate for leaping disqualified the study from consideration.

A Recorder of Locomotor Activity

The American Journal of Psychology, 1967
The apparatus described here was designed to register only locomotor behavior and also to minimize sensory feedback from S's activity. It is inexpensive, simple to construct, and easy to service. The activity cage, shown in Fig. 1, consists of a circular alley with a lamp at its center and four photocells spaced equally around its outer wall.

Monitoring and Analyzing Drosophila Circadian Locomotor Activity

2007
In the 1970s, the intriguing discovery of autonomous circadian rhythmicity at the behavioral level in Drosophila set the starting point for one of the most remarkably rapid advancements in the understanding of the genetic and molecular bases of a complex behavioral trait.

Chemical activation of the mesecephalic locomotor region

Brain Research, 1985
Electrical stimulation of the mesencephalic locomotor region (MLR) in the precollicular-postmammillary transected cat is known to induce controlled locomotion on a treadmill. We have been able to induce and block locomotion in this preparation by using localized infusions of transmitters and their agonists and antagonists.

Locomotor activity in spinal cord-injured persons

Journal of Applied Physiology, 2004
After a spinal cord injury (SCI) of the cat or rat, neuronal centers below the level of lesion exhibit plasticity that can be exploited by specific training paradigms. In individuals with complete or incomplete SCI, human spinal locomotor centers can be activated and modulated by locomotor training (facilitating stepping movements of the legs using ...
