Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

The type II exponentiated half logistic-odd Burr X-G power series class of distributions with applications

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
A new distribution, the type II exponentiated half logistic-odd Burr X-G power series (TII-EHL-OBX-GPS), is introduced in this study. This distribution combines the type II exponentiated half logistic-odd Burr X-G family of distributions with power ...

On the contraction properties of some high-dimensional quasi-posterior distributions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We study the contraction properties of a quasi-posterior distribution $\check\Pi_{n,d}$ obtained by combining a quasi-likelihood function and a sparsity inducing prior distribution on $\rset^d$, as both $n$ (the sample size), and $d$ (the dimension of ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

The Impact of Tilburg Frailty on Poststroke Fatigue in First‐Ever Stroke Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study With Unified Measurement Tools and Improved Statistics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Poststroke fatigue (PSF) and frailty share substantial overlap in their manifestations, yet previous research has yielded conflicting results due to the use of heterogeneous frailty assessment tools. Objective To evaluate the independent impact of frailty on PSF using a unified measurement system (Tilburg Frailty Indicator, TFI ...

Log logistic distribution to model water demand data [PDF]

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2015
There had been insufficient studies previously to conclude the suitability of the appropriate probability distribution functions in modelling water demand. The purpose of this study is to find an appropriate probability density function to apply in simulating water demand using real water consumption data.

An Extension of Log-Logistic Distribution for Analyzing Survival Data

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, a new generalization of Log-Logistic distribution using Alpha Power transformation is proposed. The new distribution is named as Alpha Power Log-Logistic distribution.

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Optimization of Gamma–Power–Log–logistic distribution and its applications in modelling volume of oil spillage

open access: yesScientific African, 2023
Oil spillage is one of the major problems in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, which have affected human health and aquaculture. There is a need to estimate the volume of spill per incidence.
