The normalization of the PVO log N-log P distribution

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1993
The long duration of the Pioneer Venus Orbitor (PVO) mission has provided coverage of the infrequent, intense Gamma‐Ray Bursts (GRB) that occupy the −3/2 power law region of the log N‐log P distribution. The combination of the PVO events with the BATSE results on weaker events could provide the frequency distribution of GRBs over a range of 104 in ...

FISH BIOCONCENTRATION MODELING WITH LOG P

Toxicology Methods, 1998
The most widely used method for simulating theaccumulation of organic chemicals in fish consists in correlating laboratory bioconcentration factors (log BCF) and n -octanol/water partition coefficients (log P). On this basis, five different logBCF/log P models werecompared toestimatetheir domain of application and flexibility for integrating abiotic ...

Modularity of P-Log Programs

2011
We propose an approach for modularizing P-log programs and corresponding compositional semantics based on conditional probability measures. We do so by resorting to Oikarinen and Janhunen's definition of a logic program module and extending it to P-log by introducing the notions of input random attributes and output literals.

How medicinal chemists learned about log P

Journal of Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 2018
Although log P is now recognized to be a key factor that determines the bioactivity of a molecule, the focus of medicinal chemists on hydrophobicity and log P started with the quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) publications of Hansch and Fujita.

Log-Syntomic Regulators and p-Adic Polylogarithms

K-Theory, 1999
The author computes the image of the Beilinson element under the syntomic regulator map from the motivic cohomology to the syntomic cohomology of the integer ring of a cyclotomic field in terms of values of the \(p\)-adic polylogarithm. More precisely, let \(\zeta_n\) be a primitive \(n\)-th root of unity and \(O_F = \mathbb{Z}[\zeta_n]\) be the ring ...

An O(p + log p) algorithm of discrete FGDLS

2003 International Conference on Parallel Processing Workshops, 2003. Proceedings., 2004
Feedback guided dynamic loop scheduling (FGDLS) is a recent dynamic method (Bull, 1998) that aims to schedule a parallel loop within a sequential outer loop. The method uses the feedback from the execution times of the current parallel loop to guide the scheduling of the next parallel loop.

Correlation of Log P with Molecular Connectivity in Hydroxyureas: Influence of Conformational System on Log P

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1978
The correlation of log P (in octanol--water) with the nonempirical, topologically dependent, calculated molecular connectivity index (1chiv) delineates substituted hydroxyureas into two families of linearly related groups of compounds. The first group, composed of the 3-substituted ethyl, n-propyl, and n-butyl analogs, is more hydrophilic than the 1 ...

Preserving log-concavity for p,q-binomial coefficient

Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms and Applications, 2019
We study the log-concavity of a sequence of [Formula: see text]-binomial coefficients located on a ray of the [Formula: see text]-Pascal triangle for certain directions, and we establish the preserving log-concavity of linear transformations associated to [Formula: see text]-Pascal triangle.

The log N - log P distribution of gamma-ray bursts

Nuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 1999
Abstract Gamma-Ray Bursts, both those detected by the BATSE experiment on GRO and those by previous detectors, show a well known hardness-intensity correlation. The integral Log N - Log P curves, that is the number of events having a peak flux P greater than a given value, are different for events having average spectra with a different hardness.
