Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Consolidated octanol/water partition coefficients: combining multiple estimates from different methods to reduce uncertainties in log K OW

open access: yesEnvironmental Sciences Europe
Background The octanol/water partition coefficient (K OW) is a key parameter for assessing the fate and effects of chemicals. It is a metric of their hydrophobicity, related to uptake and accumulation in organisms and specific tissues, and distribution ...

Associations of epicardial fat with coronary calcification, insulin resistance, inflammation, and fibroblast growth factor-23 in stage 3-5 chronic kidney disease

open access: yesBMC Nephrology, 2013
Background Epicardial fat, quantified in a single multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) slice, is a reliable estimate of total epicardial fat volume (EFV).

Contrast Harmonic-Enhanced Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) Is the Perfect Companion of EUS-Guided Tumor Ablation

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2020
Serum hepatitis B core-related antigen (HBcrAg) was shown to predict the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients undergoing treatment.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Association between genetically determined leptin and blood lipids considering alcohol consumption: a Mendelian randomisation study

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2019
Objectives The objective of this study was to evaluate the association of genetically determined leptin with lipids.Design We conducted a Mendelian randomisation study to assess a potential causal relationship between serum leptin and lipid levels.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Two-point L1 shortest path queries in the plane

open access: yesJournal of Computational Geometry, 2016
Let $P$ be a set of $h$ pairwise-disjoint polygonal obstacles with a total of $n$ vertices in the plane. We consider the problem of building a data structure that can quickly compute an $L_1$ shortest obstacle-avoiding path between any two  query points $

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
