Logarithmic derivative complex permittivity spectrometry
A frequency domain method for the advanced dielectric spectrometry of liquids is proposed. It utilizes the feasibility of simultaneously measuring the input admittance or reflection coefficient of the specimen cells and the derivative of these cell parameters with respect to frequency using modern input impedance or network analysers.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

Elliptic curves and logarithmic derivatives
Given a curve \(C\) over a field \(k\) and \(J(C)\) its Jacobian, the author studies the logaritmic derivative \(\text{dlog: Pic}(C) \to \text{H}^{1}(C,\Omega^{1}_{C/{\mathbb Z}})\), where \(\text{Pic}(C)\) is the Picard group of \(C\) and \(\text{H}^{1}(C,\Omega^{1}_{C/{\mathbb Z}})\) is the first cohomology group of \(C\) with coefficients in the ...

On logarithmic derivatives of probability densities
We construct two examples connected with the integrability of logarithmic derivatives of probability densities on the real line, in particular, with the Fisher information number. These examples show that the Fisher information of a probability density cannot be estimated in terms of L^1 -norms of its first and second derivatives and the maximum of the

This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...
