Land use change and effects on carbon emissions using the logarithmic mean divisia index [PDF]

open access: yesGlobal Journal of Environmental Science and Management
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Urbanization continues to rise in urban centers and cities worldwide, particularly in developing countries. As the second-largest tourist destination and education hub in Indonesia, Yogyakarta Province is experiencing ...

On the identric and logarithmic means

open access: yesAequationes Mathematicae, 1990
After a survey of existing results, several new ones are offered for the identric mean \(I(a,b)=e^{-1}(a^{-a}b^ b)^{1/(b-a)}\quad (a\neq b),\quad I(a,a)=a,\) the logarithmic mean \(L(a,b)=(b-a)\ln^{- 1}(b/a)\quad (a\neq b),\quad L(a,a)=a\quad (a>0,\quad b>0)\) and the arithmetic and geometric mean; for instance \[ L(a,b)I(a,b)^{t- 1}

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Sharp Bounds for the Weighted Geometric Mean of the First Seiffert and Logarithmic Means in terms of Weighted Generalized Heronian Mean

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
Optimal bounds for the weighted geometric mean of the first Seiffert and logarithmic means by weighted generalized Heronian mean are proved. We answer the question: for what the greatest value and the least value such that the double inequality ...

Non-Fermi liquid behavior from two-dimensional antiferromagnetic fluctuations: a renormalization-group and large-N analysis

open access: yes, 2003
We analyze the Hertz-Moriya-Millis theory of an antiferromagnetic quantum critical point, in the marginal case of two dimensions (d=2,z=2). Up to next-to-leading order in the number of components (N) of the field, we find that logarithmic corrections do ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Effect of the Reynolds number on the performance and approximate modeling of the small straight-bladed vertical-axis wind turbine

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2016
Effect of the Reynolds number on the torque and power characteristics of a small straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine has been investigated experimentally under various wind velocity.

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

ON THE GENERALIZED CONVEXITY AND CONCAVITY

open access: yesПроблемы анализа, 2015
A function ƒ : R+ → R+ is (m1, m2)-convex (concave) if ƒ(m1(x,y)) ≤ (≥) m2(ƒ(x), ƒ(y)) for all x,y Є R+ = (0,∞) and m1 and m2 are two mean functions. Anderson et al.
