Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

FSC or Business as usual? Social impacts of forest certification in Cameroon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
FSC or Business as usual? Social impacts of forest certification in Cameroon The paradigm of Sustainable Forest Management is central in the forestry laws enacted over the latest decades in the Congo Basin countries. However its implementation, and hence

Four Decades of Forest Persistence, Clearance and Logging on Borneo

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The native forests of Borneo have been impacted by selective logging, fire, and conversion to plantations at unprecedented scales since industrial-scale extractive industries began in the early 1970s.

Expression and DNA methylation of 20S proteasome subunits as prognostic and resistance markers in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Comprehensive analysis of genomic mutations, gene expression, DNA methylation, and pathway analysis of TCGA data was carried out to define cancer types in which proteasome subunits expression is associated with worse survival. Albeit the effect of specific proteasome subunits on cellular function, the main role of the proteasome is better evaluated ...

The Influencing Factors and Calculation Methods of Rock Electrical Parameters of Carbonate Reservoirs

open access: yesCejing jishu
The pore structure of carbonate reservoir is much more complex than that of clastic reservoir, and its rock electrical parameters m and n vary widely, which is difficult to obtain accurately, and the fixed rock electrical parameters are used to calculate

Silviculture in African moist forests : do we have new answers to old questions? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The silviculture of African tropical moist forests has a long history punctuated with (few) successes and (many) failures. The European foresters in charge of managing forests in the African colonies realized early - e.g. 1900 in Nigeria - that they were

Analisis Putusan No.39/Pid.B/2015/PN/Sit Dalam Perkara Tindak Pidana Pembalakan Liar Ditinjau Dari Aspek Keadilan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The Illegal logging is an organized illegal timber use activity. This crime is usually carried out by more than two people in a certain time for the purpose of destroying forests and selling wood products illegally.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Responses of Tropical Bats to Habitat Fragmentation, Logging, and Deforestation

open access: yesBats in the Anthropocene: Conservation of Bats in a Changing World, 2015
Land-use change is a key driver of the global biodiversity crisis and a particularly serious threat to tropical biodiversity. Throughout the tropics, the staggering pace of deforestation, logging, and conversion of forested habitat to other land uses has

Log-log Convergence for Noisy Optimization

open access: yes, 2014
We consider noisy optimization problems, without the as-sumption of variance vanishing in the neighborhood of the optimum. We show mathematically that simple rules with exponential number of re-samplings lead to a log-log convergence rate. In particular, in this case the log of the distance to the optimum is linear on the log of the num-ber of ...
