Low-voltage low-power CMOS true-single-phase clocking scheme with locally asynchronous logic circuits

open access: yes, 2010
New CMOS differential logic circuits, called asynchronous latched CMOS differential logic (ALCDL) circuits, are proposed and analyzed. The ALCDL can implement a complex function in a single gate and achieve high operation speed without DC power ...

Polarization‐Enabled Piezoelectric Tellurium–Selenium (TexSe1–x) Thin Films for Memory Switching and Artificial Synaptic Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate and investigate polarization‐enabled electromechanical responses in cryogenic physical vapor deposition (cryogenic PVD)‐deposited TexSe1‐x thin films, a tellurium‐based compound with a tunable bandgap and enhanced non‐centrosymmetry.

Engineering an Optogenetic pH‐Modulator in Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cells in many naturally occurring organisms routinely cooperate to control their extracellular pH in a dynamic and reversible manner, but this capability has been underexplored in synthetic biology. Here, we sought to engineer a microbial system that switches between two states —high and low extracellular pH— with minimal human intervention ...

Variation Resilient Adaptive Controller for Subthreshold Circuits

open access: yes, 2009
Subthreshold logic is showing good promise as a viable ultra-low-power circuit design technique for power-limited applications. For this design technique to gain widespread adoption, one of the most pressing concerns is how to improve the robustness of ...

Ferroelectric Devices for In‐Memory and In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by biological systems, in‐memory and in‐sensor computing overcome von Neumann bottlenecks. Ferroelectric devices can mimic synaptic functions and sense stimuli like light or force, therefore are ideal for these paradigms. This review introduces the ferroelectric devices applied for in‐memory and in‐sensor computing, covering their structures ...

Subthreshold Source-Coupled Logic Circuits for Ultra Low Power Applications [PDF]

open access: yes
This article presents a novel approach for implementing ultra-low power digital components and systems using source-coupled logic (SCL) circuit topology, operating in weak inversion (sub-threshold) regime.

Advances and Perspectives in Graphene‐Based Quantum Dots Enabled Neuromorphic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graphene‐based QDs are zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials with pronounced quantum confinement and tunable electronic structures. Herein, we summarize their synthesis strategies and functionalization methods, and highlight their functional roles and operating mechanisms in devices, as well as recent advances in neuromorphic electronics. We anticipate
