Neurovascular coupling in bone regeneration: Mechanisms, advanced biomaterials and challenges

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This figure illustrates various material strategies for neurovascularized bone regeneration, including electroactive scaffolds, ion‐loaded materials, drug delivery systems, surface modifications, cells/cell products, growth factors, and peptides. These approaches aim to synergistically promote the regeneration of neural, vascular, and bone tissues ...

Efficacy and Safety of Aclidinium Bromide Compared with Placebo and Tiotropium in Patients with Moderate-to-Severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Results from a 6-week, Randomized, Controlled Phase Iiib Study

open access: yesCOPD, 2013
Background: This randomized, double-blind, Phase IIIb study evaluated the 24-hour bronchodilatory efficacy of aclidinium bromide versus placebo and tiotropium in patients with moderate-to-severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Long-acting muscarinic antagonists for the treatment of asthma in children—a new kid in town [PDF]

open access: yesAllergo Journal International, 2018
Asthma is the most prevalent chronic airway disease observed in children and adolescents, yet the variety of treatment options available for this age group is limited. With many factors influencing therapeutic efficacy including patient knowledge, adherence, and therapy choice as well as delivery device, it is important to have more options to tailor ...

Safety of long acting muscarinic antagonists: are all these drugs always and equally safe? [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Medical Research and Opinion, 2016
Inhaled bronchodilators - such as long-acting muscarinic receptor antagonists (LAMAs) - are central to the pharmacological management of symptomatic chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. LAMAs are considered to be safe drugs at recommended dosages.

Long-acting muscarinic antagonists and small airways: which link?

open access: yes, 2020
Involvement of small airways, those of less than 2 mm in internal diameter, is present in all stages of asthma and contributes substantially to the pathophysiologic expression of asthma. Therefore, small airways are increasingly viewed as a potential target in optimal asthma control.

A consensus roadmap for post‐traumatic epilepsy: Clinical biomarkers, research priorities, policy barriers, and pathways to interventional trials

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding the mechanisms underlying post‐traumatic epilepsy (PTE) following traumatic brain injury (TBI), and developing strategies to prevent or modify its progression, has been the focus of large collaborative efforts within the epilepsy and TBI research communities for over a decade.

Evening administration of long-acting muscarinic antagonists in COPD – a randomized controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine
Night-time parasympathetic activation, diminished effect of long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMA) closer to end of the dosing period, and frequent exacerbations in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) during night suggests greater benefits of evening administration of once-daily LAMA.We electronically invited 172,852 Danish COPD patients ...

Status epilepticus: Updates on mechanisms and treatments

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Status epilepticus (SE) consists of prolonged, self‐sustaining seizures and is a common neurological emergency that causes respiratory compromise and neuronal injury. Without prompt treatment, the seizures can become resistant to benzodiazepines, leading to the progressive evolution of established, refractory, and super‐refractory SE.
