Region selectable gas sensing for long distance pipeline maintenance

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
We propose a region selectable gas sensing system, which can address gases of single and/or different species at multilocations. This technique is based on optical spectroscopy of each selected numerous absorption lines of gas. Primary experiment using fiber-optic absorption sensors, sensing regions and region selectors are demonstrated.

Overcoming Slugging Problems in a Long-Distance Multiphase Crude Pipeline

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1999
Abstract The paper discusses the wide range of issues arising out of the slugging problems experienced in a 36 km. long, 36" multiphase pipeline gathering well fluids from several ESP fitted oil wells of a distant oil field in Kuwait and processing it in a gathering center.

Pipeline Systems for Tail Gases Distribution and Optimization of Long Distance Pipelines

Proceedings of Middle East Oil Show, 1987
Abstract Unlike general transmission pipelines the emphasis lies on the distribution of the captured lean gas in a restricted area rather than transmission over a long distance. The production of oil is often accompanied by a vast amount of associated gas which represents a substantial part of the energy content of the ...

Study of the Seismic Design Parameters of Long-Distance Pipelines

ICPTT 2012, 2012
The seismic design of long-distance pipelines is very important because the earthquake could lead to serious damages to pipelines and bring secondary disasters or major economic losses. The destruction of the seismic action on the pipelines can be divided into two categories: one is the strong ground motion, the other is the permanent deformation of ...

Long-Distance, High-Volume Transport of Coal by Slurry Pipeline

Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 1981
Several long-distance, high-volume coal slurry transportation systems are planned or proposed for the United States. These new systems offer a method of transport that is both economical and environmentally attractive. The design of these systems will be a challenge to the pipeline engineer since an integrated, system design of several components is ...

Efficient planning of crude oil supplies through long-distance pipelines

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2019
Abstract This work introduces a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) formulation for the efficient planning of crude oil supplies to a major refinery, through a long-distance pipeline. The proposed approach combines the potentials of slot-based and general precedence continuous-time representations to simultaneously address two problems that ...
